She is a complexivist by training which means her expertise includes a wide range of patient acuity on a daily basis ranging anywhere from well visits in the clinic setting to managing critically ill patients in the ICU. She obtained her B.S. in biology and graduated summa cm laude in 2014. She then attended medical school at UAB where she was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society which is one of the most prestigious achievements one can accomplish in medical school and requires that the student be in the top academic tier of their class. It is an honor society based on academic achievement as well as requiring high standards of character and conduct and is a highly selective organization. During her education she was also named an Infectious Diseases Society of America scholar in recognition of her dedication to infectious disease research. She then completed her internal medicine residency at UAB which is one of the top 30 programs in the country. She won several awards including the spirit award for outstanding attitude and enthusiasm, outstanding performance in clinic, and the Dismukes outstanding senior resident award which recognizes one senior resident with exceptional teaching skills, character, and passion for internal medicine. She currently resides in Sylacauga and is transitioning into a new job role that better accommodates her stage of life. She is passionate about rural community medicine and firmly believes that access to exceptional evidence based care tailored specifically to each patient’s needs should be available to all. Her particular areas of interest are women’s health, mental health, complex disease management including diabetes, and weight loss medicine. Dr. Ragsdale has a 1.5 year old son named Beaux who is the light of her life. She enjoys aquatics/marine biology including having several personal aquatic pets, playing the piano, fishing, and spending time outside. She loves being a part of the Sylacauga community and enjoys getting to know her patients outside of the office.
