Tired of the “what’s for dinner?” struggle?

I get it. I’m literally doing my own meal plans right now toobecause life is busy, and I don’t have time to overthink meals.

Here’s what I don’t have time for:

❌ Scrolling for hours looking for recipes
❌ Forgetting ingredients at the store
❌ Spending forever in the kitchen

Here’s what’s different when you have a plan:

✔️ Meals mapped out for the week (5-7 days, or just what you need)
✔️ Under 30-minute recipes
✔️ Grocery list done for you (and yes, it loads into Instacart!)
✔️ Flexible swaps—because life happens and sometimes you just want tacos instead of pasta

May’s Meal Plans are already dropped to start Monday, and I’ll be following right along with you!

If you want simple, balanced meals without the stress - let’s do it together.

Yesterday, I had a client struggling with a food rule that left her feeling frustrated and on guard.

When we set her calorie targets, she struggled hitting them everyday, other days she went over.

“Do I have to eat all my calories? I feel so full-I can’t imagine eating more.”

I asked her why she felt that way.

“Well, my last coach told me I had to. I figured that’s what you’d say too. So… I don’t have to? Isn’t that bad?”

Instead of just giving her an answer, we walked through the pros and cons together.

Pros of pushing to hit calories:

✅ Meeting overall calorie needs
✅ Supporting a high-protein diet for recovery as a CrossFit athlete

Cons:

❌ Dreading eating
❌ Feeling overly full
❌ Potentially not getting enough fiber or protein
❌ Losing gains

But here’s the thing—not all of these pros and cons are true.

💡 The reality?

👉 She doesn’t need to hit the exact calorie target every single day. The body naturally eats more some days and less on others. We can adjust food choices (less high-volume foods, for example) to make it easier.

👉 Her protein was set at 2.0g/kg of body weight, but research shows 1.0-1.2g/kg is still enough to maintain and build muscle. A couple of lower-protein days won’t hurt her gains.

👉 Feeling overly full? There are ways to hit calories without forcing food.

👉 You don’t lose muscle from 1-2 days of eating less. Chronic under-fueling is what leads to loss of strength and recovery issues.

In the end, I let her decide. Even though she could tweak her food choices, she wanted to try listening to her hunger and fullness cues instead.

And today? She feels better than ever and is recovering well.

👉 You don’t need to follow strict food rules to reach your goals-you just need the right guidelines.

What’s a food rule you can challenge today? 👇

Feeling stuck without tracking macros? I get it. Tracking can teach you so much, but relying on it for all your nutrition decisions can make it a crutch, not a tool.

Who wants to be 80 and still seeing if you can fit 10 almonds in for a bed time snack?😅

If you’ve ever found yourself feeling lost or anxious without it, or cutting calories anytime life feels out of control, it might be time to shift your focus.

In this post, I’m breaking down:

- What to track instead of calories or macros.
- Key skills to build for long-term success.
- How to handle setbacks without guilt.

Start with this question: What is one habit or skill I can focus on today to feel more in control of my nutrition?

(I’ll be sharing more on my stories today client examples - on how they can track differently based on what fits their lifestyle)

As a dietitian specializing in sustainable fat loss, I’m not against intentional weight loss or body composition goals. What I oppose are unrealistic expectations, quick fixes, and diet culture that equates fitness with being the smallest or leanest.

We often overestimate how much we can control our weight and body composition. Long-term, extreme calorie deficits are unsustainable and our bodies will resist maintaining a specific weight due to biology.

Instead of focusing solely on weight, prioritize actions, habits, and behaviors. Your weight is not a direct measure of health, but your habits can guide you toward it. The leanest version of you is not necessarily the healthiest. True health doesn’t have a specific look and isn’t defined by having a six-pack.

Wanting to be healthy, lose weight, and feel good is valid, but chasing weight loss at all costs can be physically and mentally harmful. When you start to question your journey, remember: you love the people in your life for who they are, not how they look. 💓

If you need help with finding a healthy weight for you: Enrollment for my group program closes in just two days. Join us to learn sustainable habits, improve your health, and achieve your body composition goals in a supportive community.
