I am incredibly humbled by the love and support that I have received from Lynn County Healthcare System from day one!! I am not surprised, however because I work with some amazing people that have been by my side during my cancer journey. I never once had to worry about work they always have taken care of me and I am forever truly grateful for this. Thank you all for honoring me today in this way!! I don’t cry in front of people but I will tell you when I read my card in my car I did shed some tears. Thank you all again! I love my team, what I do, and who I work with!!
I’m excited to announce I finally got approval for my reconstructive surgery, which will be a high def Diep flap (deep inferior epigastric perforator artery)reconstructive surgery. I will be having this done on September 13 of this year which is incredible as my biopsy when this mess started was September 14 of 2018 so one day shy of my five year mark. Unfortunately, Lubbock does not offer Diep flap surgery so I will have to travel to San Antonio for this procedure. It is also not like a typical reconstructive procedure where you have implants. It is considered a transplant and I am the donor for my own transplant. It is a micro surgery so I will be in surgery for 10 to 12 hours approximately which is crazy to think about but when you think about unhooking arteries and vessels carefully and re-hooking them, I want them to be as precise as possible. One awesome cool thing also is they can actually reassign lymph nodes so they will be moving lymph nodes and re-assigning them to hopefully correct and possibly eliminate my lymphedema.
Yes, I have lost lots of weight,
107 pounds to be exact, and everyone has had lots of questions. I’ve done this for myself as this is the only way possible for me to have this procedure as well as taking my reoccurrence rate down from above 85% to a bare minimum after the five year mark. Praise the Lord for that!!
I am blessed with the best for sure and GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!
