Rachel H. Tribble, MSW, PMH-C Master's Level Clinician serving Florida Residents. Certified in Perinatal Mental Health. I am so glad you are here!

I hold degrees as both Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW), Clinical Concentration, from Florida State University. I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern (ISW 15631) in the state of Florida. I am currently under the Clinical Supervision of Lola Brognano, LCSW-QS #15132, PMH-C PSI #14855 as I complete the hours necessary for licensure (LCSW). This allows me to see

clients at a reduced rate, or at no cost! I have practiced as a Social Worker since 2004, in a variety of areas, including child welfare practice, medical social work, management roles, and providing counseling services. Most recently, I have worked on an inpatient behavioral health unit, working with clients both individually, and providing group therapies. This has allowed me to work closely with people experiencing mental health crises, providing therapeutic support while they are at their most vulnerable. I am open to anyone in need of services, and hold a Certification in Perinatal Mental Health. I firmly believe that superior mental health services should be available to everyone, and aim to create a safe space for clients, free of judgement, while they work through their life's journey. My personal and professional experiences have led me to help others. This is truly my calling and I welcome this opportunity of contributing to individuals in my community because of the joy of service to others. I am available for both face to face & telehealth sessions. I am able to see clients who reside anywhere in Florida.

To the Florida State University Community:

As an FSU alum, my heart is especially heavy in the wake of the recent tragedy on campus.

This university is a family. And right now, many in our FSU family are hurting.

In response, The University and local community have provided and outlined a number of resources.

In order to care for the community that I have called home for 25 years, I would like to offer low or no-cost therapy sessions to FSU students, faculty, and staff who have been affected by this tragedy, are in need of support. I am an army of one, so this will be available on a first come, first serve basis, as space and scheduling allows.

Iโ€™m here ...in Tallahassee.
I provide both in-person sessions at my office in Tallahassee, as well as telehealth services for those located in the state of Florida.

You donโ€™t have to go through this alone. I strive to provide a safe, compassionate space to begin healing.

Please reach out via email at rachel@rtribblecounseling.com for more information.

When one has experienced a difficult childhood or overcome numerous obstacles and adversity, it can make it difficult to fully accept joy and positive things that come their way.

That is one way the brain lies to us: we are so used to surviving, we are hesitant to thrive. It tells us that the rug will likely be pulled out from under us at any moment, so allowing ourselves to feel hope, joy or excitement is bound to lead to disappointment.

As we enter 2025, I hope you learn to allow yourself to experience happiness. To look inside, and work towards healing the wounds and negative thought loops that make you feel like you are deserve a life that is anything less than extraordinary.

October 15th is recognized as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
This evening, people are encouraged to light a candle at 7pm in their time zone, in order to create a Wave of Light across the globe. This is in honor of those babies that we never had the chance to meet, who couldn't stay, who were born sleeping, or left us too soon.

There is nothing taboo about this kind of loss, except that we don't talk about it.

Based on the prevalence of these kinds of losses, it's likely that you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a Pregnancy or Infant within the first year.

If you call your baby something (like a nickname), or they have a name, say it! Acknowledge their impact. Words are powerful.

I am walking this journey with you. If I were able to light a candle for each of the babies I have come to know, personally, professionally, and through the power of social media, I might have create a hazardous condition...but what an honor it is to hold the stories of their lives.

I will have my own candle lit today, plus another one to honor all of the babies. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๐Ÿ•ฏ

๐ŸSeptember 9-13, 2024 is Maternal Su***de Awareness Week.๐Ÿ

Fact: Maternal su***de is a leading cause of maternal mortality and accounts for an estimated 20% of maternal MI during the perinatal period.

Fact: Women diagnosed with postpartum depression have an elevated risk for su***de up to 18 years

You don't have to suffer.

It's not just Perinatal Depression (aka postpartum depression).
It is not only postpartum.
PMADS don't always have the same presentation as their non Perinatal counterpart diagnoses.

Mom life is hard.
When you have a social support system.
When you don't....it can feel impossible.

Mamas are the toughest people I know, and, despite that, are hardest on themselves.

It is my greatest honor to hold space for every single one I come in contact with.
That hour...is all about you. You deserve it.

We were never meant to live like this. Want to know why youโ€™re so tired? Itโ€™s not just because your baby wakes all night. Itโ€™s not just because youโ€™re nursing 24/7. Itโ€™s not because of your babyโ€™s biological needs. Itโ€™s because we were never meant to live like this. In so much isolation. So alone. We were meant for a village. We were meant to lay in bed for weeks/months feeding and sleeping with our new baby while our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, neighbors, and friends helped out.

But there is no mother bringing us food and water. No grandma cooking the meals. No sisters playing with the other children. No cousins folding the laundry. No neighbors taking care of the house, and no friends providing support. Modern life is in constant conflict with childrearing and our biological needs. From returning to work at 6 weeks postpartum to little to no support in the postpartum period. The truth is many of us are just lucky enough to have someone drop a meal off but not lucky enough to have them actually come inside. And itโ€™s not their fault. They donโ€™t have a village either. Thereโ€™s never been a mother to bring them food and water. Never a grandma to cook their meals. Never sisters playing with their other children. Never cousins folding the laundry. Never neighbors taking care of the house and never friends providing support.

Our babies are biologically designed to wake often and eat often. We are biologically designed for a village. Be easy on yourself and your baby. We were never meant to live like this.

There can be no maternal health without mental health.

1 in 5 birthing people report signs and symptoms of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

This only includes those who feel comfortable disclosing to their provider.
It only includes providers who screen, and are able to recognize the symptoms.

Not all providers are trained in the subtle nuances of Perinatal Mental Health. (It is not regularly taught as part of a traditional Mental Health or Medical Track in Graduate Programs)

Need help?

Postpartum Support International has a database of providers of all kinds who are trained in Perinatal Mental Health, both for moms and professionals. They also offer free virtual support groups that are specific to a number of different experiences.

We are advocating for such precision diagnostics through the new womenโ€™s health research initiative established this year through the White House. These more precise diagnostic tools legitimize mental health disorders, provide doctors with much-needed medical diagnostic tools, and *bonus* combat stigma.

That is the wholesale cost, but thatโ€™s not what patients pay. And yes, $16,000 is a lot, but not really...The FDA approved 51 โ€œnovel drugsโ€ this year that are the first of their kind. Like any new technology, they are expensive to develop due to high research and development (R&D) budgets.

As the providers responsible for a motherโ€™s health during pregnancy (and now for all women through 12 months postpartum), itโ€™s critical obstetric providers (Obs) test for these disorders starting before pregnancy or early in pregnancy and throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. (This is recommended by ACOG, with guidelines for screening updated this year)

It's November! That means...the holidays are coming. Notice I did NOT end that sentence with an !!

Because, the while holidays can be really special, and a lot of fun...they can also be an intense source of stress or pain.

If grief comes in waves, sometimes, holidays or anniversaries can feel like a tsunami.

Grief is not always about a person. It can include other losses as weฤบl: a job, a dream, a perception.
I am including this clip, as I feel like Dr Fowler's words hit the nail on the head. They always did.

Many of those in the local mental health community are grieving the recent loss of a phenomenal clinician, who dedicated his practice to griefand trauma.

However, even in his absence, his words and lessons continue, and this is a GREAT clip on managing the holidays when you have experienced a loss.
