“Nearly a dozen newly proposed veterinary colleges have been announced in the past two years, which represents a sizeable potential increase to the existing 33 U.S. veterinary colleges. Some universities have already secured site visits from the [AVMA Council on Education] COE while others are just in the discussion stage.”

The veterinary profession is poised to experience a MASSIVE influx of new schools and students. Does this increase make sense? How will the profession absorb these new colleagues? I dig into the data and offer my thoughts 👇

This is very contrary to the conventional wisdom that suggests hyper-specialization is required for success. “Range” pulls off that rare feat of being a fun, page-turning book that is also dense with facts and information that can change how you see the world. "First, don’t cave into self-doubt or rigid thinking while you are exploring different paths....Second, be patient....In the clinical pathology world, I was “early career” at the age of 40. I am not suggesting anyone needs to meander around like I did, but I have no regrets and at least for me, not rushing really served me from an experience standpoint. I have applied knowledge from every career stop to my current role."

Dr. Hoepp provided some wonderful answers about her career journey in our interview. Read the full article for more!
