I got the opportunity to do this podcast about doula work, and to put out some positive information. this work is my passion, my purpose and an absolute honor to be put in the sacred space. So i hope i did my fellow birth workers proud, and even helped teach some along the way! it was fun yet intimidating for me! šŸ˜¬šŸ’•šŸ„°

Listen to this episode from Align Your Glow & Soul on Spotify. This week's episode I have on Denver based doula Matti Sova who's been practicing as a doula for 2 years and obtained her certification through DONA. The first photo of momma sitting on the birth stool to help finish the delivery of the placenta. No one rushed it, pulled it, clamped it, or even really talked about it until the 30 min mark. Most placentas in hospital I'VE witnessed in my doula journey are clamped off at 1-2 mins exact The placenta will typically release its self 20-30 mins after birth as the uterus keeps contracting! If it doesn't seem to be contracting as much a small dose of Pitocin can help continue the delivery of the placenta. After the placenta arrived momma got to go right over to her bed and rest up with baby...

Did you keep your placenta?
How did you consume it?
or does the it completely creep you out that people consume it after?
if so, it shouldn't a large majority of mammals consume there placenta except most ocean creatures and marsupials...I think we forget sometimes we're mammals!

This is home birth. Your space. Your safety. 5 hours this momma Bridget Gibson Clara welcomed her 4th baby boy into the world on a quiet Friday afternoon at the foot of her bed on the floor.. :) It was a miracle to witness, share the space and also photograph! She rocked it. It was amazing to witness the midwifery form of care outside a hospital as well thank you Community Roots Midwife Collective for the peaceful yet silent energy you brought to the room.

Most recent Client review -- Thank you to this family and all the love and trust in me. :) i love my job.

"Matti was such a wonderful addition to our birthing experience. She is so knowledgeable and her calm and encouraging demeanor is exactly what our family needed during birth. Matti provided support throughout our pregnancy and as a first time mother, she eased anxiety, provided other perspectives, and encouraged my husband and I through all that our pregnancy and birth brought. Matti was our doula but she was also a friend. I 100% will be using Matti’s support if and when we are able to have another baby."

I have openings for Feb and March still. April has room for one more! Reach out for questions or a consult!

This little lady entered the world is a quick 9 hours start to finish. Which isn't always positive but some wish for it. She was tough and decided not to use medication, which was part of her plan. she found her strength and pushed through it all. Supporting her was a quick and fun experience.

Excited about my photography journey and learning as I go. Documenting has been intimidating and so rewarding all in one..

Listen to this, not in the case of judgement. Many have needed/chose to do it! Nothing wrong just don’t let your doctor try and force pull you into it if you don’t feel the urge to need it, unless medically necessary! It’s perfect for the non bias and just true studied educated facts…

Where you birth and who you choose to care for you matter. You can interview 22 doctors before you pick just one, but always ask their caesarean percentage rate and that of the hospitals not just the OB or midwife. Make sure to ask if they support your family and birth beliefs, ask if you can push off your back to avoid stress on your perineum, make sure they’re doing as you wish, you pay them!

A lot of the stats for hospitals are in the 25% or higher for cesarean just in Colorado (Denver area) hospitals alone… birth was made for you, you deserve all the time and help to have your baby not be on a time clock and waiting to see if your provider shows up or not. mothers deserve proper care if they’re having the children of the future… we need more midwives to save these women from trauma and maternal death.

Midwifery care cuts cost, improves outcomes, and increases patient satisfaction. Removing barriers to it could make pregnancy and childbirth safer in the U.S.

if the shoe fits..... Mama's if you want a labor without interventions know all your options and pick a birth center nearby that has close hospital access if that brings more comfort. But being unbothered in a hospital is pretty impossible but still possible with the right birth team and information!

This…. The Postpartum period and PP mood disorders are lacking education and information on so many fronts! This is one of my favorite PP facts. The postpartum period doesn’t last just 6 weeks or even 12. Sometimes it hits at 6 months or even 15 months, maybe it happens once you stop nursing your babe or maybe they stop on their own. But talk to someone who can relate mamas. There’s groups, there’s individual therapies/counseling, and even probably a friendly neighbor that can relate. But talk about it, talk about what you love and don’t love in your new roll, talk about your fears and your accomplishments! This is your journey and it can be scary, accept the help and reach out if ever needed!!

I love this so!

When Allyson Felix became pregnant, Nike was prepared to cut the terms of Felix's endorsement by as much as 70% due to the pregnancy, and told her to ā€œknow your place and just run.ā€ 🤯

Amid all of this, she was forced to have an emergency c-section seven months into her pregnancy because of a potentially life-threatening condition and her baby had to live for more than a month in the NICU. But two years later she’s qualified for her fifth Olympics with her daughter watching.

Felix dropped Nike and created her own brand of running shoes, the Saysh One. She is currently running in the Olympics in Japan wearing them under the banner ā€œI Know My Placeā€. šŸ˜

With 11 medals now, she passed Carl Lewis this summer for the most track and field medals by an American in history!

"I used my voice and built this company for you. So that you never have to train at 4:30am while you're 5 months pregnant to hide your pregnancy from your sponsor.ā€
