What is your self-care routine? 🌱
Self-care is often something we brush under the rug or attend to last. When more often than not, it should be the first thing on our lists. It is okay to attend to other priorities such as family, friends, and loved ones, but it is also important to love ourselves. 🌱
Doing your favorite activities, treating yourself to a spa day or pedicure, reading a book in a quiet place, enjoying your favorite exercise routine, having a special treat, telling yourself you’re proud of your accomplishments, taking a bath or hot shower, watching your sports game, and doing your makeup are examples of self-care. 🌱

Did you know? 🧠
Most would think that Serotonin (a key hormone that produces feelings of well-being and happiness) is produced in the brain. When in fact, 95% of Serotonin is produced in our gut! 🧠
The foods we place into our digestive system surely have a large influence on our mood. By placing lower quality foods at a constant rate into the digestive system, it can damage the amount of Serotonin production in the human body. Leading to mental health fog, anxiety, depression, loss in ability to focus well, etc. 🧠
As 2021 continues, mental health is now important than ever, and it starts with what we put in our mouths! Treat your body right and flourish it with whole fruits and vegetables to give yourself that Serotonin boost it deserves! 🧠

Treat the cause, not the symptom! 💉
We live in a wonderful world of modern medicine, and it is has many amazing qualities. However, more often than not, the root cause of inflammation in the body is caused by dietary choices that involve high amounts of refined sugar, saturated fat, and salt (processed foods). Inflammation can cause a variety of health conditions such as hypertension, joint pain, GI issues, mental fog (90-95% of serotonin is produced in the gut), etc. 💉
These types of inflammation are traditionally treated in medicine with a prescription. Sometimes these prescriptions are very much needed. However, it is often found that ones diet plays a very large role in the amount of inflammation an individual has in their body. One may find they can treat the symptom over and over again, but the cause still persists, leaving the individual with almost constant chronic pain. 💉
Eating foods that nourish your body is not only important for a life of quality, it also benefits you long term by preventing chronic inflammation. Eating a constant diet high in sugar, salt, and fat can surely increase the risk of chronic disease. 💉
Choosing foods that are whole, and that have no plastic packaging are the way to go (ex: Apple, Avocado, etc.). Whole foods will give you more energy on a daily basis, help clear mental fog, balance out the gut microbiome (aids better digestion), and reduce the amount of inflammation in the body. 💉
Make choices that will also matter tomorrow, not just today. 🌱💚

What we put into our bodies on a daily basis can surely determine the way we feel. 🍑
Take a sports car for example. A sports car needs a high quality grade fuel to run properly such as a premium fuel grade with an octane level of 93. If a fuel grade with an octane level of 87 was placed into the sports car, it is not going to perform its’ best. 🏎
The same goes for food in the human body. When we spend too much time consuming heavy processed foods such as fried foods, pizza, boxed items, sugary snacks, etc. We can all relate to the feeling of “ugh, I shouldn’t have eaten that”. Although, in the moment, it seemed like the best idea due to a craving. A craving normally comes on from having nutrient deficiencies, most likely because there is lack of consumption of whole foods. 🥬
By consuming a consistent diet of whole foods, your body is more likely to feel “whole”. Therefore, less cravings, less fatigue, more energy, less brain fog, stabilized hormones, less inflammation (joints, GI, etc.), and many more positives. 💪🏼
The comfort foods that we often reach to consume, are a large part of chronic inflammation throughout the human body. Which later on could cause serious consequences in relation to chronic disease such as type two diabetes, cancer, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc. 💉💊
