Playing off my post from the other day…I just want to complain.
I’m beyond frustrated. We’re out of state right now attending trial. With me my daughter(the victim age 8 ), my two boys(5,10), and my fiance(who is practically their step dad) and my mother.
We came two months ago and I asked them about the court covering any expenses. I stressed to them that I’m low income and can barely pay my bills as it is and coming up here for two weeks was a hard task. They told me they’d reimburse hotel, food, and mileage for immediate family(key word here) and anyone subpoenaed(me, my mom, her bio dad, and her of course). I told them I could not afford to book a hotel for two weeks up front and they finally caved on that and booked it for us.
A week prior to trial we were told my mom was no longer being called and they wouldn’t book a hotel or pay for any of her expenses. She’s my babysitter for my boys and daughter. She has to be here or I can’t testify or bring my daughter in to testify. We were pi**ed but we let it go and she’s staying with a friend instead 45 min away since we couldn’t fit her in with all 5 of us in 1 hotel room with only 2 double beds.
Now that we’re here I’m being told the reimbursements only apply to me and my daughter. Not my boys. We’re talking about eating out constantly(except for breakfast since hotel provides). I’m trying to do some meals we can eat cold or just microwave or eat leftovers but it’s hard. I’m extremely frustrated I was told one thing but now that we’re here they’re acting like I never said that. Their words were we only pay for whoever is necessary for trial or subpoenaed. My boys are necessary. How do you expect me to not bring my children??
I’m beyond stressed. And my body is feeling it. I’m having immune responses, chronic pain, major anxiety. I have zero clue how I’m paying for all this and going to be able to pay my rent at the end of the month. I HATE that the courts just don’t care.
This is just the cherry on top to a crap DA office that changes what they say constantly, provides no updates, has no advocates. If we didn’t have photographs I’d have no faith this would go our way.
Please just pray I’ll make it through this. My family will make it through. My daughter will make it through. My daughter also just came down with a fever today and she’s supposed to testify in two days. Pray that goes away quickly. Pray somehow we’re able to pay our bills at the end of this month and eat for the duration of this trial.
I need support desperately. This is not for the weak 😭 😭 😭
