Hospice Volunteer Luncheon at the beautiful Columbia Restaurant 🥰

So honored to be standing next to these 2 beautiful souls. My volunteer coordinators work tirelessly to make sure all of their patients and caregivers are taken care of in multiple ways.

There are so many ways to get involved with LifePath Hospice through the ! I work with kids who have lost a love one, deliver birthday bags for milestone birthdays, assist with the annual Celebration of Light, celebrate veterans during their Valor Ceremony and my favorite- offer respite care for very deserving full-time caregivers. This is not to brag- but to show you how diverse the opportunities are to serve your fellow human in need.

There are also volunteers who feel called to work in the 2 local Hospice Houses, make phone calls to patients, do various admin work, sew blankets, bring a therapy pet to patients, and SO much more.

If you have the time, be a volunteer in whatever type of organization you feel called to do so. Do it for your community and also for yourself. I promise you will learn so much and be more grateful for the little things in life, which sometimes ARE the big things…

I officially hit my low on November 15, 2026. Unfortunately, it took 5 long years to get there…

I was in the BEST shape of my life at the age of 47 with the help of my 1st coach. Even Covid didn’t derail me. I had officially hit 10,000 steps for only 2 days when it all came crashing down. The hip and back injuries happened at the same time and there were months of severe pain followed by years of chronic pain. I completely gave up on myself.

The breaking point was getting off of the sofa one night. The brain fog had cleared just long enough for me to actually notice how hard it was and I felt heartbroken. Not because of my size, but because I remembered in that moment how it felt 5 years earlier to easily pop up when I was sitting down, and how much energy I had all day.

I looked back at my old account which I had stopped posting on in 2021. I think I read and reread every post until a teeny tiny glimmer of hope surfaced. I wanted to feel that way again. But I didn’t mention this to anyone because I still wasn’t sure if I was willing to give up all the comfort food that helped me get to where I currently was. So I turned to Chat-gpt. I needed to peek at some of the local options out there without talking to anyone, because it was too scary and uncomfortable.

It’s now been 4 months and I’m so glad I picked #2 💪🤩 I am forever changed because of Sean and Laura’s expertise, kindness and willingness to meet me where I’m at as a 52 year old with chronic injuries. Today I went back to see what I wrote for my initial prompt in November because I was curious. I realized all the info that was generated is true so I had to share in case someone out there is also ready for a change 🥰

5 years in the making… This was my goal (and I was so close!) when I injured my hip and low back in 2021. SO much pain (and depression) followed and I completely gave up. The heating pad was my best friend and I stopped movement all together.

6 weeks ago, the leg press was added to my routine (at 120lbs) by Sean Jacobs MS CSCS | Strength • Movement • Longevity and today I finally DID IT and hit my PR of a full set of 12 at 200lbs 💪

I truly never thought I would be back in the gym and loving the challenge of pushing myself to the limit. Giving myself so much grace that it took me this long to find my way back…

As a proud 52 years “young, not old” midlife woman, my journey probably doesn’t look like yours. And that’s ok, because it’s my journey. Comparing myself to others doesn’t do me any good, so I don’t. I did my best today and I am so proud and MY BODY ISN’T BROKEN 🙌

This one is for the planty people 🪴

If you’ve been here a while, you already know this used to be the Plants by Debby page. I sold small potted plants in fun and unique containers for 3 years and LOVED it! But made absolutely no money 🙃

I still love nature and plants, but it is now just a hobby. But if you are new here and LOVE cute planters, scroll back on my page and enjoy the pics. It really was fun creating them 🌸

I changed the name to Resiliency by Debby because being resilient is so important in ALL areas of life and if I inspire even 1 person, I feel like my job is done. Social media can be such a negative digital space and this is my way to give back in a positive way in my little corner of the world 🥰

One of my favorite quotes is “There is no failure unless you quit.” Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but you get the idea 😉So many adults, myself included, are scared to try new things and possibly fail or worse, look silly or stupid to their peers. But always playing it safe is also hard because then there isn’t any growth 🌱

So when I post about my new love for the gym, that is me being resilient. Walking in the door is hard every single time but once I do, I’m sooo glad I’m there. I just learned what a landmine press is this week and that is fu***ng cool 💪

As for the plants, some of them are being VERY resilient even though I don’t check on them as often as I used to. Oops 🥴 But these 3 are thriving so I wanted to show them off. Look closely at the cactus for a surprise 🌵

Where have you been resilient in YOUR life? I’d love to know 😁

Today I didn’t feel like a walk… but I did it anyway.

And I am soooooo glad I did 🌸

Even though pollen has currently taken over as ruler of the neighborhood, the flowers in our front yard greeted me as well when I walked outside. And a turtle too 🐢

I used to LOVE walking. 2 hours every day just wandering the neighborhood looking at and photographing nature. Then a few serious injuries sidelined me and I completely stopped. That was 5 years ago 🥴

Since mid December, I have gone from an average of 3500 steps back up to 9000 most days of the week 🥳 I’ve grown to love it again but I REALLY wasn’t feeling it today.

So I reminded myself that all I need to do is 1 lap. Just a short walk. Something is always better than nothing, right? That’s what I tell myself now when my inner voice is telling me to stay comfy on the couch 🫠

I’ve started over from the beginning many times throughout the years. And I’ve always had amazing coaches by my side. But this time feels different for some reason. I’m a little older and (hopefully) a little wiser. My WHY has changed and I’m in it for the long haul. I also have a few people in my corner right now who genuinely care and are excellent at what they do.

If you are looking for an AMAZING team to help you feel your best, I highly recommend which is run by (mobility and strength training) and (nutrition and lifestyle). I know I can do this with both of them by my side 💪🤩 LFG!!

The plunge that started it all…

I can’t believe it’s been 3 1/2 years since I took my 1st cold plunge during a retreat with !! I still remember the ice delivery guy watching in disbelief and fascination as we all took turns in the driveway of an Air B&B in S. Tampa 🤣

Fast forward a year later and Paul introduced me to .k.scott and 🥰🥰

And the rest is history! Well almost…

came into the picture this past August and I have found a welcoming home away from home there as well. So now I’m hooked for life and I absolutely love that I have the privilege of guiding courageous humans out of their comfort zone 4x a week!

If you’ve never tried contrast therapy before, I highly recommend you give it a chance. So many wonderful and amazing benefits await you 🔥❄️🔥

You can find me at Kodawari Studios Thursdays at 4:45pm and Fridays 10:45am.

You can also find me at Revivery on Sundays at 12:30pm and Mondays 6pm.
