Sweet moments from Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day! 🍓📖

Ms. Carmen went to be guest reader at Ms. Fania's FCCH, but the fun didn't stop there. The group headed outside to the garden to pick, wash, and feast on some perfectly ripe strawberries.

Scroll to see James in action by the sink! He was happily devouring his own harvest, but then he made sure to share the love. He walked his prize strawberry across the yard to Adrian, who was living his best life perched on top of his stool.

Nothing beats fresh fruit and sweet friends. ☀️✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us in February for the 2026 Early Childhood Resource Fair! We were thrilled to bring together early childhood providers, educators, families, and community partners for a vibrant morning of connection, learning, and community support. From hands-on resources to inspiring conversations, you helped make this event truly special.

A huge shoutout to Tina and the team for her outstanding planning and coordination—this event wouldn’t have been possible without their hard work.

We’re already excited for what’s next. Until then, thank you for being part of this amazing community!

CALM/ELM coach Ms. Jourdain spread the love at Children’s Nest Day School Brandon. She read The Day It Rained Hearts, a story about friendship and individuality. Afterwards, Ms. Jourdain led a sweet counting activity, using heart-shaped candy to make math hands-on, fun, and deliciously engaging. Learning + laughter = the perfect recipe for a heart-filled day!

Ms. Amy’s literacy lesson at Bible Based Fellowship was all about perspective! After reading Not a Stick, the children explored the relationship between objects and storytelling.

The highlight of the day:

- Exploring: Gathering natural materials from our own backyard.

- Creating: Using paint and mixed media to bring their "not-a-sticks" to life.

- Writing: Integrating name-writing practice to build letter recognition and ownership of their work.

Taking block play to the next level 🔦

Block play doesn’t always have to look the same!
Adding the components of light and shadow allows for further exploration and engagement.

We used light tables, a projector, flash lights and translucent colorful blocks for this fun activity.
Additionally, we covered the wall in paper and provided writing utensils if the children wanted to trace their creation’s shadow.

So much fun!

It may be sweater weather outside, but that didn’t stop us from bringing all the cozy classroom fun inside at Seminole Heights United Methodist Preschool! Since chilly mornings and cocoa-filled afternoons aren’t always guaranteed around here, Ms. Paige helped bring the warmth inside with a little creativity and a lot of imagination. Students got busy designing their own hot chocolate–inspired artwork, singing favorite songs together, and settling in for story time that had everyone smiling and engaged. Our 3-year-old class read This Is Not My Hat, the Older 2s cozied up with Hot Cocoa Calm, and the Young 2s had a dino-mite time reading 5 Little Dinosaurs. From artistic cups of cocoa to joyful voices filling the room, it was a heart-warming day full of creativity, connection, and cozy moments.

Reading together is one of the most powerful ways to help preschoolers see themselves and their friends in a world full of possibility.
