Babies with eczema are at a much higher risk of developing food allergies—here’s why (and what you can do)

Eczema weakens the skin barrier, making it easier for food proteins to sneak in and trigger the immune system. At the same time, a baby’s gut is still developing and is more permeable—so when food gets in through the wrong route (skin vs. mouth), the body learns to fight it, not tolerate it.

Why is no one speaking up about these?

If your baby has been struggling with constant spit-up, colic, poor sleep, or fussiness after feeds, you’ve probably been told:

“It’s normal—your baby will grow out of it.”
“Try switching formula or cutting dairy.”
“They’ll be fine—just wait it out.”
