Miles for Miracles is a virtual 30-day challenge during Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month benefiting the brave patients and families at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

Sign up to walk, run, bike, swim (or anything that motivates you to move!) for one mile a day from September 1 – 30, for a total of 30 miles, in honor of 30 years of miracles and partnership with Aflac Inc. and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. At this year's Leadership Summit in Plantation, Florida, members of our Leave of Absence and Short-Term Disability leadership team assembled gift bags and created cheerful get-well cards for the young patients and dedicated staff of Salah Foundation Children's Hospital.

The hospital recently implemented the special "duck training" program, which provides young patients with therapeutic companion ducks.

Together, we're making a difference—one smile at a time!

Dr. Effinger is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and serves as Co-Director of the Survivorship Program at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Her research focuses on physical and psychosocial functioning after cancer treatment in childhood, adolescent and young adult survivors.

The Kathelen V. Amos endowed chair focuses on advancing medical research, clinical practice, or education. This endowment will provide financial support Dr. Effinger's cancer survivorship research. 💛
