It was so nice to talk "shop" with these ladies today at book club. More than that it was nice to connect.

I have always loved being a part of a team and leaning on another for ideas, strategies, and support. Today felt a lot like that.

We came together after reading The Whole-Brain Child by Dr. Daniel Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson. It was great to connect on so many points both professionally and personally. I learned lots of great tips that I will share on another day!

I can't wait for the next one!

Last night took a lot of patience.

1. I had to be patient with my kids knowing that this was a new experience for them.

2. I had to be patient with myself knowing dinner might be a little bumpy.

The yellow rice was still rejected at the end of the meal but we made a lot of progress. I want to be able to go to restaurants and have my kids be adventurous.

They aren't there yet and that's okay!

I liked the idea of doing take-out with news foods to ease them into it and put myself in a more relaxed environment.

If you are struggling with expanding the foods your child eats, DM me to set up a free 15 minute consultation to see if occupational therapy would be right for your family.

Micro moments of joy.

Sometimes they're really hard to see. Especially if negative thoughts seem so loud. As parents we often worry about our children.

Are they eating enough?
Are they growing?
Are they meeting their milestones?

In making the change to Everyday Progress I wanted to highlight glimmers. These are small steps that we see in moving towards our larger goals.

That might look like your child did not yell or scream with a novel food on their plate.

They got curious about a strawberry and picked it up.

They participated in their pre-meal routine with minimal guidance to set them up for success at the dinner table.

Helping parents shift their mindset to focus on the positives everyday is a core value for me. If this sounds like a challenge, we can help!

Through direct therapy or parent coaching we work with the whole family in mind. Contact me at colleen@everydayprogressot.com to learn more about our services.

A birthday refresh seemed like the right time.

We serve familes that are struggling with mealtimes. Traditionally, the focus is the child in feeding therapy. However, the parents are a major piece of the puzzle when making changes to mealtimes and they are not fully supported.

Here we have a small leaf and a big leaf to represent the parent and child. Both growing in an upward direction.

At Everyday Progress we do things differently. We want the parents to feel confident and empowered to make mealtimes enjoyable.
