Music might do more than move our souls—it could help fight cancer. Scientists found that Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 destroyed 20% of cancer cells in lab tests, while leaving healthy cells untouched.

Another piece, Ligeti’s “Atmosphères,” showed similar effects, hinting that certain compositions might carry healing powers science is just starting to explore.

Dr. Márcia Alves Marques Capella and her team in Rio de Janeiro are expanding their research, testing rhythms like Samba and Funk to find nature’s own soundtrack for healing.

Could music become part of future cancer treatments? It’s early days, but this work is tuning up a fascinating new chapter where sound and science meet. 🎶🔬

I'm incredibly grateful to have been part of in Boston, an exhilarating weekend dedicated to at the MIT Media Lab. Over 5,000 people applied, but only 500 were accepted.

Thank you to MIT Hacking Medicine team, its sponsors and mentors for making it possible, and many others for their guidance and friendship. I'm looking forward to more innovative adventures!

Our international team, including Mayank Daté, Marianna Leite, Nomase Iyamu, and Abner Flores Morales, created MAI Brain, an AI tool for measuring Alzheimer's cognitive assessments. It's inspiring to see the impact of teamwork across borders. While we didn't win, it was an incredibly rewarding weekend.
Why do I hack at 50? It's about doing the impossible, connecting with brilliant minds, and making a meaningful impact. 🌍

Standing on the verge of celebrating my 50th birthday, I've pondered deeply about what I truly desire for this milestone. The answer was clear: I wish to gather the incredible Tampa Bay tech community for a grand celebration. We haven’t done a Barcamp in a few years now, and things seem disjointed with all of the new tech organizations. This isn't just about marking half a century of my life; it's about applauding our collective tech ecosystem, our breakthroughs, and even the hurdles we've faced along the way. Heck, the internet is barely 50 years old.

Our journey has been remarkable, filled with innovation, perseverance, and a shared vision that continues to drive Tampa Bay forward. Every organization, entrepreneur, and tech enthusiast among us has played a pivotal role in sculpting our community's success. Now, it's time to celebrate that collective spirit and strength. So, to celebrate this, we will have a fireside chat to share some of the history you haven’t heard about. Companies you may have never heard of, some you may not have known that they started here.
