The essence of this statement
if I were to make it personal,
is that I've had to save myself from me.

I had to save myself from my own sabotage.
From being my own worst enemy.
From doubting myself.
From my wild imagination.
From selling myself short.
From my dysfunction.
From my unbalance.
From the torture chamber
I had built inside of myself for myself.
From own personal internal hell.

I alchemized my own captivity
into a self rescue mission.
My cheerleaders may not have
needed to save me,
in the way that only I could.
But they sure saved me
in so many other ways,
and I am eternally grateful
for having the best support system
one could ever ask for.

But no matter how many people shone
the light for me, guided me, or showed me the way,
I ultimately had to be the one to show up for myself and achieve it.
That was only the beginning of it.
There are many different ways to save ones self. Different seasons of our lives, ask for different versions of ourselves to be saved.
Saving yourself, I've come to learn, is a lifelong journey.
