While sitting in the sun to achieve that perfect summer glow is tempting, PAM Health is here to remind you that not taking precautions when you’re in the intense summer sun can have some serious side effects, including skin cancer, skin discoloration, and eye damage. Here are some tips to protect yourself while also soaking up that vitamin D:
• Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply every few hours, especially if sweating or swimming.
• If you’re opting for spray-on sunscreen over lotion, try spraying it on your hands first, then applying it on your body for optimal effectiveness, according to some experts.
• Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration
• Seek out shade, especially in the middle of the day when the sun’s UV rays are strongest

Team Member Tueday- Meet Angie Cates!
Angie started at PAM Health of Tavares in April 2024 as a Director of Quality Management and was quickly promoted to Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, and is now the Chief Nursing Officer!! Angie’s favorite part about her new position is she is able to empower and support the team, knowing if the team is supported the patients will receive the exceptional care they deserve. Outside of work Angie does whatever helps her recharge; unwinding with her family, binge watching a good show, or just enjoying some quiet downtime! Angie has one daughter, one son, a new puppy, one cat and one bearded dragon! Angie says that she doesn’t really have any hobbies, but she does have 57 tabs open in her brain at all times! We think that any nurse can relate to that! Thank you Angie for bringing consistency, humor and a “can do” attitude to our hospital!!

Meet Moses Medina!
Moses started at PAM Health of Tavares in February as a Maintenance Technician and quickly fit right in with the PAMily. He has great personality, an amazing work ethic, and a “get it done” attitude. Outside of work Moses likes to fish and do anything outdoors. His favorite part of working at PAM Health is working with tools and being a part of a great team!

Team Member Tuesday: Meet Jeff Hughes!

Jeff started at PAM Health of Tavares in February 2024 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Jeff comes to us with more than 35 years of experience!

Jeff's favorite part about PAM Health is engaging with his patients, discussing medical topics, and training new nurses.

Outside of work, Jeff enjoys golfing, pickleball, reading, gardening, and going to the gym. Jeff moved to Florida from New Jersey 2 years ago with his wife and loves spending time with his 6-month-old grandson!

A fun fact about Jeff is he was a hospital corpsman stationed in Pearl Harbor!
