I was honored to sponsor this year’s Christian County Senior Citizens’ Appreciation Luncheon for the second year in a row, after proudly volunteering for many years before that. This event has always held a special place in my heart, and it’s truly been an honor to carry on such a meaningful tradition.

On behalf of Specialized Hearing Solutions, Stonington Fertilizer Inc., and Christian County Seeds, thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the incredible seniors of Christian County.

This luncheon is just a small gesture of appreciation for the years of work, service, and love you’ve poured into our communities. Yesterday, we had the joy of honoring almost 450 of YOU.

I’d also like to give special recognition to Larry Barry, who generously sponsored and supported this luncheon for nearly two decades before passing the torch a few years ago. His dedication helped shape this event into what it is today, and we’re proud to continue in his footsteps — with him still cheering us on and helping behind the scenes.

A big thank-you as well to the Christian County Fairgrounds and Fair Board for allowing us to host this wonderful event during fair week and always being so supportive of the senior luncheon.

🎉 Kicking off FAIR WEEK right! 🎉
It was an honor to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the 101st Annual Christian County Ag Fair — celebrating over a century of tradition, agriculture, and community spirit.
As Board President of the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, I’m proud to support this incredible event that brings our whole county together. And as the owner of Specialized Hearing Solutions, I’m especially excited to stand behind the fair as both a business and a neighbor who believes in investing in local roots.

101st annual Christian County Agricultural Fair

TAYLORVILLE — Christian County’s 101st Agricultural Fair is finally here. Opening up with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday morning, July 15, the fair will surely bring action and excitement with it’s events, extravagance and excellence with it’s farm shows as well as mouth watering indulgence with it’s variety of food. Throughout this week there will be rides, displays and even a full Clay Walker concert.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring the public together, to work together to see what’s showcasing one of the biggest industries in the County,” Christian County Board Chairman Bryan Sharp exclaims. “A really nice opportunity. A lot of equipment manufacturers are represented here, local businesses represented here. It’s a great opportunity. A lot of great events that they’ve done this year so we look forward to seeing them but it’s just a great opportunity to come out and interact with one another. Things we really need to get back to as a community.”

The Christian County Ag Fair opens tomorrow, Tuesday, July 15th!!!

The Annual FREE Senior Citizens Day Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 16th with Bingo starting at 11 a.m. and lunch being served at 12 p.m.

No ticket is required! Just drive yourself to the fairgrounds and golf cars will be available to pick you up at your vehicle and deliver you to the luncheon, and then take you back to your car when finished (Courtesy of Battery Specialists +Golf Cars).

We had a great morning celebrating with our community — walking in the Taylorville 4th of July Parade and helping serve lunch at the Mayor’s Cookout. It’s always an honor to be part of these hometown traditions.

Congratulations to the THS Class of 2025!

Yesterday, We had the joy of celebrating someone very special — our niece, Ava May — on her high school graduation!

Over the past few months, Ava has been helping out at SHS a few hours a week. Whether she’s behind the scenes or greeting you with a smile at the front desk, she brings calm, care, and quiet efficiency to everything she does.

It’s been such a joy to have her be a small part of the business while she’s worked hard toward her bright future. I’m so proud of the young woman she’s becoming!

At the end of the summer, Ava will be heading to SIUE to pursue a career in the nursing field — and I know she’s going to make an incredible difference in the world. 👏
