Bike helmets help protect against head injuries in the event of a fall or crash. They absorb impact, keeping your skull and brain safe. Helmets also reduce the risk of concussions, which can have long-term effects.

Wearing a helmet sets a good example for kids and others around you. It encourages safe biking habits and shows that safety is always a priority. In Colorado, anyone under the age of 18 must wear one. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in preventing serious injuries.

When choosing a helmet, make sure it fits snugly but comfortably and covers your forehead. If your helmet has been in a crash, even if there’s no visible damage, replace it.

Stay safe and protect your head every time you ride.

Last Thursday’s sold-out event at the Telluride Science Center called “Hot Flashes & Bright Futures: Reimagining Midlife & Menopause Care” sparked a powerful, thought-provoking conversation around women’s health and the evolving landscape of menopause care — and we were honored to be in the room.

Fresh off her appearance with Oprah and interviews on top podcasts like Armchair Expert and Mel Robbins, Dr. Mary Claire Haver ( | drmaryclaire.com) joined forces with fellow trailblazers Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz ( | drsuzanne.com) and Dr. Corinne Menn ( | drmenn.com) for an inspiring discussion on hormone therapy, brain health, sexual wellness, and whole-body vitality.

We’re proud that Telluride Regional Medical Center was represented by:
🏥 Dr. Sharon Grundy, Medical Director of Primary Care
🏥 Dr. Diana Koelliker, Medical Director of Emergency Medicine

Our providers are committed to staying up-to-date on current science and supporting the women in our community through every stage of menopause with compassionate, evidence-based care.

Thank you to the Telluride Science Center and Telluride Foundation for bringing these important conversations to our community.

Heat exhaustion is often a warning sign and can progress into heat stroke, a serious medical emergency, if not treated promptly. Heat stroke creates neurological changes that if left untreated can result in permanent damage, if not death. Individuals of any age can experience heat exhaustion / heat stroke, with infants, children, the elderly and pregnant women at higher risk.

It’s particularly important for responsible adults to take preventative measures and watch for signs of heat illness in infants and children, as they aren’t able to express symptoms early on.

Summer’s flying by—and so are our well child check appointments!

As we head into the second half of summer, now is the time to schedule your child’s annual well child check before the new school year begins. These visits help ensure your child is growing and developing on track, staying up to date on immunizations, and building healthy habits for the year ahead.

Also, if your child will be participating in organized athletic activities through the school, they will need a CHSAA pre-participation physical exam and medical eligibility clearance, which is valid for one year from the date of the exam.

In July and August, we have additional appointment slots designated for these important visits. The schedule can fill up quickly, so please call now to get your child’s visit on the books!

Call us at 970-728-3848 to schedule in English or Spanish.

When you call TMC, our patient access staff, Like Lisa can schedule you with your primary care provider who can support you with a referral if you think you need to see a specialist.

When your TMC primary care physician (P*P) recommends that you see a specialist, it’s because they want to ensure you get the most targeted care for your specific health needs. This process, known as a referral, connects you with a doctor who has specialized expertise to treat your condition more thoroughly.

But what happens after your P*P makes the referral? In some cases, the office you were referred to simply needs to receive the referral to get you scheduled. Other times, your insurance may require that the referral go through a process called “prior authorization” before you can see the specialist.

We highly recommend that you contact your insurance carrier before any medical visit to a new provider to ensure that you are aware of what exactly is covered under your plan.
