I wanted to share a clients success story (sharing with client permission) that illustrates just how powerful MFR is and the potential of this work.
About a month ago, I had a new client come in hoping for help with her back pain and leg tension.
She is 81 years old, and let me know that she did have a hydrocephalus and was hoping to avoid the traditional medical “ interventions” such as a shunt or having a hole put in her brain. Her symptoms which she related to the hydrocephalus were drowsiness, confusion, balance issues, vertigo, vision and cognitive issues. I educated her about the fascial system and let her know that we should keep an open mind and that MFR may help with the hydrocephalus symptoms as well as her back pain.
I treated her for one 90 minute session during which I balanced her pelvis, did some transverse planes releases and a very long respiratory diaphragm release. I did not touch her head or cervical spine during this session ( I treated her where she was restricted). She reported immediate improvement in her back pain after her session! I sent her home with some MFR self treatment techniques and she has been extremely consistent with them.
She text me a month later ( our schedules have not allowed for another treatment yet) to let me know all of her hydrocephalus symptoms had resolved! She was so thankful to have her life back and feel more confident in her body again. She has been EXTREMELY CONSISTENT with her self treatment at home, which of course makes all the difference.

Another day, another life touched by this powerful approach. It is amazing what can happen when we get out of our way, trust the body’s wisdom and take responsibility for our own wellbeing. Myofascial Release works, again and again!

Have you tried traditional pelvic floor physical therapy with little success? Do you feel like your kegels are getting you nowhere?Fascial restrictions in our pelvis and throughout the body create crushing pressure on the pelvis and surrounding organs. Releasing these restrictions allows the body to return to structural balance and restore the strength of the pelvic floor naturally, without strengthening on a bad foundation.

A beautiful example of the interconnectedness of our entire body.

In week 3 of early human development, the embryo forms two depressions next to eachother.

One becomes the opening for the mouth, the other forms openings for the pelvic organs.

The jaw and pelvis organised themselves in relation to eachother, creating branches, spirals and unifying as a whole.

The relationship between jaw tension and pelvic floor tension is a daily experience.

This "neurological coupling" of the floor and jaw book end our digestive system and give terminal end points for the spine.

In your Pilates/movement class today, notice the dynamic relationship between the jaw and pelvis.

How does relaxing your jaw change your pelvic movement?

How does moving the jaw inform pelvic posture?

The body is a series of patterns.

Movement is medicine

I am so passionate about MFR because I believe my clients deserve the best! This beautiful quote really sums up how and why MFR changes lives!

“Anytime we try to describe Barnes myofascial release as focusing on one tissue more than another, we miss the most important point. In my opinion, what John teaches is an approach to the entire system of fascia, which is the chief organizing system of all the system. And the chief purpose of that organizing system of fascia is communication. The nervous system is not only housed in the fascia, research has revealed that fascia is legitimately a part of the nervous system. Nobel prize studies have shown that fascial piezo receptors under the skin channel information of pressure and touch down to the free interoceptive nerve endings, a part of the nervous system. It’s also been shown that in the brain, the fascial glial cells are actively contributing to nervous system communication. When we approach a person, for whatever reason they come to us, what we’re trying to do when we apply Barnes principles is balance the system so that we can open up any restrictions that are interfering with whole-body communication of information or the function of the mind within the system. This is a total whole body approach and we completely miss the point when we try to talk about the parts separate from whole.” Dr. Carol Davis, DPT

MFR works, again and again! No more miralax after one 90 minute session and follow up/maintenance care. If you or your child are struggling with chronic constipation, MFR can help release the fascial restrictions that can slow digestion. You do have options outside of medication and symptom management. Why suffer for one more day?
