Selfcare Yoga A daily practice to bring the mind, body & soul into a state of loving self-nurturing and harmony.

Nasim Nourian, founder of Self-Care Yoga discovered the healing power of yoga in 2011 while attending a workshop at the Inner Vision Yoga studio in Chandler, Arizona. Curious to learn more about yoga, she signed up for the workshop, not at all expecting such a transformative experience. That profound experience of healing confirmed the positive energetic and physical effects of yoga which then led her to complete her 300-hr Yoga Alliance approved teacher training & Healing Emphasis Yoga Therapy programs. Nasim’s love for asana practice emphasizes on building strength and steadiness, while observing stillness and grace to heighten awareness and personal growth. Nasim has studied with Paulie Zink, Sarah Powers, Sally Kempton & Rod Stryker. She is also certified as Ayurvedic Lifestyle Councelor from Dr. David Frawely's American Institute of Vedic Studies.

After practicing yoga for enough years, you will discover sooner or later that poses alone will not solve all your problems. It’s not that the world is so complex.

Our difficulties are born at the crossroads of three things: one, we are under the sway of ancient ties, patterns and perhaps even ancestors that are continuing to shape us, our actions and perceptions two, we are masterful at making things appear complex and three, we constantly lose ourselves in these false notions of self. There is no shortcut for exploring––within ourselves––more conscious ways of being and becoming. Thus, if you are to live with peace and meaning and fulfillment you need uncover the means to be your most authentic and wise self. If you honor this self, the universe will honor you.

The following are guidelines for doing this that never seem to fail me:

1. Above all else: listen. Again and again. Listen.
2. Remember: the path is always clear for a calm and steady mind.
3. Walk toward your fears.
4. Do it now. Whatever it is you see or hear you must do, do it; don't wait.
5. Return to the miracle of the present.
6. Resolve your animosity––lest you expend your life's breath resuscitating corpses.
7. Invest in your health. Take pause regularly to remind your body to smile––every cell of it.
8. Aspire to love: to be it, to share it.

What about you? What are the guidelines that you must follow if you are to honor your best self?

Maybe, like me, you have many scars, inside and outside. Maybe, like me, you thought they were unsightly, ugly or unwanted. If so, I'll share with you what I read this morning. When we ask the questions, the answers always come. And I saw my answer in a book called Little Bee by Chris Cleave. In it, he writes, "I ask you right here please to agree with me that a scar is never ugly. That's what scar makers want us to believe. But you and I must make an agreement to defy them. We must see all scars as beauty. This will be our secret. Because a scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, I survived." Startwithyou

Heart Health Yoga Series Startwithyou with Nasim Nourian starting in March 2021

Good news for anyone who doesn't have a lot of time to dedicate to their cardio health!

Recent research has shown that we can improve our cardiometabolic fitness significantly by doing variations of High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T). H.I.I.T may sound daunting, but recent peer-reviewed studies show that only 7 minutes/day of brisk walk or 3 bouts of 20-seconds all-out effort has the SAME cardiometabolic health of running 50 minutes 3x a week. And that's why I'm offering this short & very efficient practice.

The Heart Health Series will be 3 weeks in duration, twice a week, 30 minutes sessions. Each week, we'll practice yoga with the intention of getting your heart rate up for at least 7 minutes.
Each session will include yoga conditioning, breath work, strengthening and stretching.

The sessions will be Tues & Thurs at 9 am (AZ) March 2, 4, 9,11,16 & 18. As usual, sessions will be recorded & emailed to you. The cost will be $60 for the entire workshop.

Sign up on startwithyou.yoga and select Heart Health to book or DM Nasim Nourian with any questions!
