Did you know that certain common medications can make your skin more sensitive to the sun? ☀️ 💊 This is called photosensitivity, and it can lead to quicker sunburns, rashes, or even severe skin reactions with less time outdoors.

Common culprits include some antibiotics (like doxycycline or ciprofloxacin), diuretics (water pills like hydrochlorothiazide), certain pain relievers (NSAIDs like ibuprofen), antihistamines, and more. Ask our pharmacists if you’re not sure! 🤔

Protect yourself by wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+), seek shade when possible, and cover up with hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing.

A common question we get at the pharmacy is: “Can I recycle my prescription bottle?” 🤔

While prescription bottles are made from recyclable plastic (Polypropylene, #5), Thurston County doesn’t accept them in curbside recycling. Most recycling centers won’t take them either because of their small size and the risk of medication residue.

🌟 HOWEVER, DON’T TOSS THEM! 🌟
These bottles are light-resistant, airtight, and made from food-safe plastic — perfect for upcycling! Give them a good wash and feel free to get creative with these ideas:
🌱 Seed storage
🍝 Dry food storage (spices, herbs, nuts, trail mix)
💍 Jewelry organizer
🔨 Nails, screws & bolts
🧵 Mini sewing kit
✈️ Travel shampoo & conditioner bottles

Last night, some of our Hedden’s team had the honor of attending the Raise for Rowyn “Sea of Light” Gala. 🧜‍♂️🧜‍♀️

With an under-the-sea theme, several attendees, including Rita, dove in and showed up as a mermaid! 🩵 However, the real beauty of the night was the purpose behind it.

Raise for Rowyn is an incredible local nonprofit that provides emotional and financial support to families navigating the heartbreaking loss of a child, helping ease the burden during their most difficult moments. We are truly honored to support an organization that brings comfort, community, and hope when it’s needed most.
