Leaders from GCHD, CHW, GAAA, and ARC recently participated in the Hurricane Iris Tabletop Exercise. These exercises are an important step in strengthening our community’s emergency preparedness.

This leadership tabletop focused on coordinated decision-making across CHW clinical operations, GCHD public health operations, animal services, and Embarkation Hub posture across a 120-hour hurricane planning horizon.

By working through real-world scenarios together, we improve coordination, communication, and our ability to respond quickly and effectively during disasters.

The Galveston County Health District’s Water Program is on a mission to help protect and improve our local water quality, and today’s topic is pet waste.

When it rains, stormwater runoff carries pollutants like pet waste into our already impaired waterways. This can increase harmful bacteria levels and impact both environmental and public health.

The good news? You can make a difference. By simply picking up and properly disposing of your pet’s waste, you help reduce pollution and keep our waters cleaner.
