✨ Redefining Failure with Maya Angelou

“Courage allows the successful woman to fail – and to learn powerful lessons from the failure – so that in the end, she didn’t fail at all.” — Maya Angelou

In a world that demands "perfection" from women—especially from mothers and professionals—the fear of failing can be paralyzing. We carry the weight of expectations, convinced that one "mistake" or one bad day defines our worth. 🕊️

But true success isn’t the absence of struggle; it’s the courage to walk through it.

When we allow ourselves the room to be human, we realize that the moments we labeled as "failures" were actually our most powerful teachers. They are the moments that build our resilience, clarify our boundaries, and deepen our empathy.

Therapy is the space where you can:
🛑 Stop the cycle of self-criticism.
💡 Unpack the lessons hidden in your hardest moments.
💪 Build the confidence to lead an authentic, courageous life.

You don't have to carry the pressure of "perfection" alone. Let’s turn those heavy moments into a foundation for your growth.

Our 8-week support group for mothers is opening again starting January 20th, 2026—and we'd love to have you join us.

This isn't just another commitment on your already-full plate. It's a space where you can exhale. Where you're not alone. Where the messy, hard parts of motherhood are met with understanding instead of judgment.

What happens in Mother's Circle:

Learn practical coping strategies for anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional regulation
Set boundaries without guilt (yes, this is possible)
Rediscover your identity outside of motherhood
Build a support network that extends beyond the 8 weeks

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today we honor Dr. King's legacy by reflecting on this powerful question. His life reminds us that true purpose is found in service, that our individual actions create collective change, and that justice requires each of us to show up for our communities.

How will you answer his question today?

🛑 Tool of the Week: The STOP Skill for Overwhelmed Parents

We’ve all been there: your child is melting down, your heart is racing, and you feel like you’re about to lose your cool. When you feel yourself spiraling, use this DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skill to regain control:

S: Stop Freeze. Don't react yet. Press pause on whatever you were about to say or do.
T: Take a Step Back Breathe. Just once. If you need to, physically step into another room for 30 seconds. Your child will be okay while you collect yourself.
O: Observe Notice what’s happening in your body. Is your jaw clenched? What thoughts are racing? Then, look at your child—what are they actually communicating beneath the behavior?
P: Proceed Mindfully Now decide: How do you want to show up? Choose the response that aligns with the parent you want to be, rather than reacting out of frustration.

Pro Tip: Write "STOP" on a sticky note and put it on your fridge or car dashboard. Pausing isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of a regulated parent. 🧠✨

🕊️ A Gentle Reminder for the Postpartum Soul

“You are worth the quiet moment. You are worth the deeper breaths and you are worth the time it takes to slow down, be still, and rest.” – Morgan Harper Nichols

In the early months of parenthood, "rest" can feel like a luxury you can't afford or a goal that’s constantly out of reach. You are so busy nourishing, holding, and tending to your family that it’s easy to forget that you require tending, too.

Please hear this today: Taking time for your mental health isn't "taking time away" from your baby. It is an investment in the foundation of your entire family.

You are worth more than just "getting through the day." You are worth:
✨ Space to process your birth story and new identity.
✨ Support for the intrusive thoughts and heavy emotions.
✨ A dedicated hour each week that belongs only to you.

Give yourself the gift of a supported start.

🕯️ Tool of the Week: The Grief Permission Script

Grief and joy often live in the same house, especially in parenthood. But when we don't know what to do with that heavy feeling, we often try to hide it.

This week, use this framework to honor what you’re feeling instead of pushing it away:

1️⃣ Name the Loss: Get specific. Instead of "I’m just sad," try: "I’m grieving the spontaneity I had before kids" or "I’m mourning the birth experience I didn't get to have."
2️⃣ Give Yourself Permission: Say it out loud: "It’s okay to grieve this. Grief doesn't cancel out my love for my child. Both can exist."
3️⃣ Share the Weight: Grief that lives in isolation often turns into shame. Tell a partner, friend, or therapist: "I need to tell you about something I’m mourning." They don't need to fix it—they just need to witness it.
4️⃣ Honor the "Then" While Building the "Next": Grief isn't about "getting over it"—it's about integrating that loss into who you are becoming now.

The Formula: Name it + Permit it + Share it = Healing, not hiding.

Is the "village" being replaced by an algorithm? 🤖🏠

Check out this fascinating new article featuring our very own Dr. Lauren Pasqua!

The piece, "Is AI Replacing the Village? What Moms Turning to ChatGPT Says About Parenting in 2026," explores the rising trend of parents using AI for everything from sleep schedules to emotional support.

Dr. Pasqua weighs in on why parents are turning to digital tools and what it means for the future of maternal mental health and community connection. Is AI a helpful tool, or are we losing the human touch we desperately need?
