Are you a self-proclaimed "people pleaser"?
Often seen as pleasant and kind people who are helpful and accommodating on the surface, people pleasing can often lead to low self-esteem, frustration, burn out, loss of identity, and anxiety.
People pleasing is often a way to gain acceptance, seek validation, and feel loved, but at the expense of your own true happiness and authenticity.
If you relate to this, try these steps to begin moving away from people pleasing habits.
-Say "no" when asked to do something you don't have time or desire to do.
-Create clear boundaries and communicate them.
-Make sure your words/actions align with your core values, regardless of what those around you may be saying or doing.
-Schedule time to take care of your own needs- mentally, physically, and spiritually.
-Find a mantra to keep you on your path to personal growth.
You can start with, "My worth is not dependent on the validation of others."
*If your people pleasing and fawning is a result of trauma, please seek help from a therapist.*
