In my latest article, I reflect on the game Freud observed with his grandson—the Fort/Da—and how this simple play with presence and absence reveals profound truths about desire, language, and the birth of the subject. The spool becomes more than a toy; it is a metaphor for how we grapple with loss, the unbearable of the Real, and the constant negotiation between what is present and what is absent in our lives.

Today marks the anniversary of Jacques Lacan’s passing (September 9, 1981), one of the most influential figures in the field of mental health. Lacan revolutionized the way we understand therapy by bringing a “return to Freud” that emphasized the role of language, the unconscious, and the dynamics of human desire. His ideas continue to shape how clinicians and analysands alike think about identity, relationships, and the therapeutic process.

For me, his work is a reminder of the depth and complexity that every person brings into the therapeutic space, and why therapy is not just about addressing symptoms, but about listening, understanding, and helping people find meaning in their experiences.

In my practice, I strive to bring this same depth to my work with clients, supporting them as they navigate challenges and discover new possibilities for growth. In this article, I explore how modern culture treats waste—not just material waste, but psychic waste: slips, dreams, symptoms, and the parts of ourselves that don’t fit into ideals of perfection. Rather than seeing them as disposable, psychoanalysis teaches us to work with these remains. Desire itself is born from loss, from what is discarded. Knowing-how with waste means recognizing that what seems useless or broken can become a source of meaning, creativity, and transformation.

"The Encounter of Love and the Love of the Encounter"

This reflection was first written for a conference I gave at the Universidad Veracruzana, later adapted into an article. It explores how love and encounter are less about searching for what is missing and more about the unexpected moment that interrupts, surprises, and transforms us. Drawing from Lacan, Badiou, and philosophy, I consider how the encounter generates new subjectivities, new truths, and new ways of being with others.

Therapy, in many ways, follows a similar logic. It is not a quest for completeness or a linear solution, but a space where an encounter with one’s own words, desires, and differences can take place. In that encounter, change becomes possible—not through certainty, but through openness to what emerges.

Loneliness is not simply the absence of company—it is a condition tied to language, subjectivity, and the impossible pursuit of wholeness. We come into the world through the words of Others, and in language we find both connection and an unbridgeable void. Is loneliness a historical phenomenon? A universal truth? A symptom? A secret?
In my latest article, I explore loneliness as both singular and shared. Through literature, psychoanalysis, and politics, I examine how loneliness is not merely endured—but constituted. It is not only something we suffer through, but something we are.
📝 Read the full article here: https://politicsandpsychoanalysis.blogspot.com/2025/08/loneliness-that-bridge-of-avignon.html

As a therapist, I witness every day how deeply this theme resonates—how loneliness expresses itself not just in silence, but also in the need to speak, to be heard, and to be met. Therapy is not a cure for loneliness, but it is a space where its contours can be named, explored, and shared.
If you're considering beginning a therapeutic process, I currently offer sessions and would be honored to accompany you on that journey. You can learn more or schedule a session through this link:

In this article, I reflect on repetition—not merely as recurrence, but as a structure that shapes memory, forgetting, and subjectivity. Drawing from psychoanalytic theory and clinical experience, I explore how repetition can be a site of transformation, not just return.
This piece was originally written as part of a university presentation and later expanded into a deeper inquiry into the role of memory in the therapy process.

In this article, I explore what is silence? Is it absence, or another form of speech? In my latest article, I explore silence not as emptiness, but as a structure of language—an element as charged and meaningful as words themselves. Drawing from psychoanalysis, literature, and music, I reflect on the paradoxes of silence, its ethical dimensions, and the way it shapes our inner and relational lives.

In this article, I explore how modern society often silences pain—turning it into something to be hidden, medicated, or avoided rather than acknowledged and spoken. From schools to clinical settings, we’re encouraged to equate emotional strength with the suppression of what’s labeled “negative.”
But what if pain isn’t something to cure, but something to understand through words? Drawing from psychoanalysis and voices like Montaigne, Borges, and Enrique Lihn, I reflect on how pain is not a defect in human experience—but a vital part of it. Pain signals. And in speaking, it makes room for meaning, creation, and transformation.
