The Thedford, NE kindergarten class hoped for 50 Valentines from all 50 states... instead, they got more than 1,000 cards and packages from across the country and around the world.
Boxes started arriving, giant plastic totes from the U.S. Postal Service started stacking up.
And when you stop and think — each delivery started with a stranger somewhere in the world deciding to show some students in the Nebraska Sandhills — children they didn’t even know — that they care.
The class received so many surprises that Thedford Elementary is hosting an open house today (Friday, Feb. 13th) so the community can come walk the halls, see it all, and feel the love.
They have now hung up the Valentines, postcards and letters to line the hallways. You’ll also see tons of maps — each delivery was turned into a learning adventure as students found the sender’s location on a map and talked about where it came from.
The open house is Friday from from 8:00 a.m.- 2p.m.
