❤️💙 Honoring a Liberty Hospice Veteran Volunteer 💙❤️

Liberty Hospice was proud to join the community in celebrating Russell “Russ” Crotts, a Vietnam War Veteran and dedicated Liberty Hospice volunteer. Russ was recognized by the Sew Blessed Quilting Group during a heartfelt quilt presentation ceremony honoring his military service.

Russ also just celebrated his first anniversary as a Liberty Hospice volunteer, where he and his service dog, Flo, have made a meaningful impact on the lives of hospice patients and families.

Over the past year, Russ has generously given his time through patient visits, Veteran to Veteran support, Veteran pinning ceremonies and community outreach with local Veteran organizations. His presence brings comfort, understanding and honor to those he serves.

We are deeply grateful for Russ’s service to our country and for the compassion he continues to share with fellow Veterans in hospice care. It is an honor to walk alongside volunteers like Russ, whose dedication embodies the heart of hospice care.

Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day! ✍️

Planning ahead is one of the most meaningful gifts you can offer your loved ones. At Liberty Home Care and Hospice, we use Five Wishes to help individuals express how they want to be cared for if they’re unable to speak for themselves.

Five Wishes addresses personal preferences, emotional and spiritual needs and the medical choices that matter most — all in one simple, easy‑to‑understand document. This tool helps families feel confident that decisions reflect their loved one’s true wishes, bringing clarity and comfort during difficult times.

Completing an advance directive early protects your voice, reduces stress for family members and ensures your care aligns with your values. Liberty Home Care and Hospice can help guide you through every step of the Five Wishes process.

Congratulations to Liberty Hospice of Wilmington for receiving this week's ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW OF THE WEEK.

“Hospice is never a situation anyone hopes to face, but when the time comes, the team supporting you makes all the difference. Brandy was the social worker for my neighbor during their time with Liberty Hospice, and to say she made an impact would be an understatement.

She not only guided the family through an incredibly difficult experience with grace and professionalism, but she also brought warmth and light into the home. Her compassion and empathy were evident in every interaction, and she even managed to bring laughter back to my sweet neighbor with her stories and uplifting spirit.

I have had extensive experience working with social workers, and when I say Brandy is the best, it is not an exaggeration. Her care, dedication, and heart truly set her apart. My 5 star review is 100% due to Brandy and all of her hard work. I sincerely hope many more families are blessed to experience the same exceptional support and kindness that she provides.”

Our Liberty Hospice volunteers in Wilmington, Hampstead and Supply have been working on a meaningful patient project, creating adult bibs from button‑down shirts to help preserve dignity during mealtime.

Designed to look like regular shirts, these handmade items offer comfort and confidence while supporting patients and caregivers in a thoughtful way. This ongoing project reflects the heart behind volunteer service.

Congratulations to Liberty Home Care of Whiteville for receiving this week's ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW OF THE WEEK.

“I recently battled breast cancer and I kept being hospitalized during the course of my treatments. During one of my hospital stays, a case manager came into my room and asked me what they could do to prevent me from getting sick. I explained to her I received chemotherapy on Tuesdays and by the weekends I would be extremely sick. She, along with the doctor, set it up when I was discharged to receive services from Liberty Home Care. I was blessed to receive services by Nurse Gina! Mrs. Gina supported me throughout my breast cancer journey. The care, compassion and genuine concern that I received was remarkable. My journey wasn't an easy one. She was there through the chemotherapy treatments, my double mastectomy and other issues. This company is amazing! I will gladly refer this company to family and friends. I firmly believe the care I received was instrumental in me being successful at beating my breast cancer. If I need assistance again, I will gladly request Liberty Home Care.”
