Rotavirus is a common viral illness that can cause significant stomach symptoms in young children.

Symptoms usually begin 1โ€“2 days after exposure and may include watery diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and abdominal pain.

While most healthy children recover within 3โ€“7 days, some can become dehydrated and may require hospitalization.

๐Ÿ’ง Signs of dehydration can include:
โ€ข Dry mouth
โ€ข Fewer wet diapers or urination
โ€ข Fatigue or decreased activity
โ€ข Crying without tears

The good news? The rotavirus vaccine is an oral vaccine that helps protect against rotavirus and can greatly reduce the severity of illness. ๐Ÿ’™

If you have questions about the rotavirus vaccine or your childโ€™s symptoms, talk with your pediatrician.

๐Ÿ’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿ’š

At The Pediatric Center, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health. Childhood and adolescence can come with big emotions, stress, anxiety, and challenges โ€” and itโ€™s important for families to know they are never alone.

Here are a few ways to support your childโ€™s mental well-being:
โœจ Encourage open conversations
โœจ Spend quality time together
โœจ Promote healthy sleep, nutrition, and activity
โœจ Reach out for help when needed

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available.
๐Ÿ“ž Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline โ€” available 24/7, free, and confidential.

Letโ€™s continue working together to support healthy minds, happy kids, and strong futures. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโ˜€๏ธ Memorial Day weekend means sunshine, swimming, boat rides, and making memories with family โ€” but itโ€™s also important to keep water safety top of mind.

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, even with adults nearby. A few simple precautions can help keep children safe around pools, lakes, rivers, and the beach:

๐Ÿ’™ Always supervise children around water โ€” stay within armโ€™s reach of young swimmers
๐Ÿ›Ÿ Use properly fitted life jackets when boating or around open water
๐Ÿšช Make sure pools have barriers, gates, or secure access points
โ˜€๏ธ Donโ€™t forget sunscreen, hydration, and shade breaks
๐ŸŠ Teach children water safety rules early and enroll in swim lessons when appropriate

The best Memorial Day weekends are the ones filled with safe memories. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

From all of us at The Pediatric Center, we hope your family has a fun, relaxing, and SAFE holiday weekend! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฃ

๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’™ Meeting a newborn soon? Small precautions can make a BIG difference in keeping babies healthy and protected.

Newborn immune systems are still developing, which means simple steps from family and friends can help reduce the spread of illness and keep little ones safe.

Before visiting a baby, remember to:
โœ”๏ธ Wash your hands
โœ”๏ธ Stay home if youโ€™re feeling sick
โœ”๏ธ Be up to date on recommended vaccines (Tdap, flu, COVID when appropriate)
โœ”๏ธ Avoid kissing newborns
โœ”๏ธ Keep visits short and calm
โœ”๏ธ Always respect the parentsโ€™ wishes and boundaries

Parents set rules because they love and want to protect their baby โ€” and those rules deserve support. ๐Ÿ’™

A little extra caution today helps protect our tiniest patients tomorrow. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿฃ

๐ŸŒณโ˜€๏ธ The Power of Outdoor Play! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

Outdoor play is more than just fun โ€” it plays an important role in a childโ€™s physical, mental, emotional, and social development. ๐Ÿ’™

Spending time outside can help children:
โœจ Build strong muscles and coordination
โœจ Improve focus, creativity, and learning
โœจ Reduce stress and improve mood
โœจ Encourage healthy movement and active play
โœจ Support overall emotional well-being

Whether itโ€™s riding bikes, flying kites, exploring nature, running at the park, or simply playing in the backyard โ€” outdoor play helps kids grow, learn, and thrive! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿช
