At Rebel Yoga we redefine yoga culture, we focus not on the attainment of a perfected yoga pose but familiarize your body with proper alignment, body awareness all while maintaining a fluid flow. We incorporate body weight exercises, sweat dripping and beat pumping music to get you moving, awakening your inner fire that you've been searching for. All our classes are all levels so whether your a newbie or advanced yogi Rebel speaks to you.

1. How'd you find Rebel + How has it made an impact in your life?
Last year, I set a few little intentions: try something new, keep challenging myself, and maybe, just maybe, rediscover a bit of my joy.
I had no idea that by joining Rebel (and saying yes to a fresh start), I’d find all three wrapped up in one incredible, heart-filling experience!
As an empty-nester living in Heritage Hills and still a yoga newbie, I truly can’t overstate what a gift Rebel has been.
Sure, I’ve grown stronger physically (which feels amazing), but even more than that, it’s lifted and nurtured my mental and spiritual well-being…and that’s the real magic.
From the second you walk through the doors, you can feel it, that warm, welcoming, uplifting energy where everyone belongs. No matter your day, your age, your experience, or your ability - you’re met with open arms and kind smiles. You’re not just showing up to a class…you’re stepping into a community...
2. What is your favorite part of your yoga practice?
That one-hour slice of time that’s just for me. The moment I unroll my mat, the outside world fades away. It’s my time to breathe deeply, quiet my mind, appreciate my body, and just be. Honestly, it feels like a reset button every single time.
Let’s not forget the fun extras, the friendships that have blossomed, the cheerful hellos on the way in, and that happy, glowing, sweaty post-class feeling...that’s just the cherry on top!
Rebel - thank you for being such a bright, beautiful light here in Somers. This studio—and every single instructor—means more than words can truly capture.

March Yogi of the month is our Katie !!..
1. How'd you find Rebel + How has it made an impact in your life?
I wanted a vinyasa based hot studio to open up closer to my home. Through word of mouth I found out Rebel was going to open at the end 2024, beginning 2025 which was amazing. I couldn't wait! When it opened, it was everything I was hoping for. The instructors each offer a unique style of teaching which makes it super fun and never boring. Rebel has made my life so much more balanced. Aside from my strength increasing dramatically, the way I approach life is completely different. After each class I am more able to breathe through and let go of things I cannot control. I am more grounded and appreciate all I can do -- and all I cannot do because I am human, afterall. ..
2. Tell us something about you outside the studio:
My life is rather chaotic which is another reason I treasure Rebel. Being a mom of 2 kids, one of whom has severe special needs, my days are jam packed with parental tedium and stress. To take time for myself outside of my house and the Rebel, I love to read, cook, dance around the house and be outside as much as possible -- even in this cold! There is so much to constantly do and worry about, I try to live as lightly as possible...
3. My favorite part of my yoga practice is;
Growth. Trying - successfully or not -- new moves in class is so much fun. I love to see what my body and mind can do at that particular moment in time. Finally mastering a move is such an amazing feeling, I love when it happens

🎃 October Rebel of the Month is GREG!! 🍂
Greg's been unrolling his mat since the early days of Rebel and has been going strong ever since, continuing to show up for himself regularly.
1. How did you discover rebel + how has it made an impact in your life?
I drive through Thornwood a lot and noticed the studio, probably soon after it opened, at a time when I was seeking to add to my workout regime. I had sampled the occasional yoga class before but really enjoyed the flow even though I thought I was terrible at it. I still don't think I am very good. But its part of a series of mobility workouts I keep my aging body (I'm 75) from falling apart and especially to avoid another back surgery for compressed discs....
2. Tell everyone something about you outside the studio.
I am still working as a journalism professor at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and as a reporter covering the economy and fiscal issues for the non-profit news site THE CITY. I bike a lot (outside and Peloton), am a big sports fan and love to eat out...
3. Your favorite part of your yoga practice. My favorite part is when I think I have completed a flow like it is supposed to be one. The question is whether I will ever be able to do a pigeon instead of reverting to figure four.
