I was invited to speak as part of Road Scholar’s "Age Well" webinar series on April 16th at 4:00 PM PT: "Beyond the Brochure: Choosing the Right Senior Living"

After over a decade in senior living, I’ve seen how overwhelming this process can feel, especially when decisions are made quickly and without clear guidance.

In this interactive session, I’ll walk through:
• The different types of senior living and what they actually mean
• What to look for when touring communities
• How to recognize red flags
• How to approach these decisions with more clarity and less overwhelm

If this is something you or your family are navigating, you can learn more or register for free here:

Join us on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 7 p.m. (ET)/ 4 p.m. (PT), for a free one-hour lecture and Q&A to learn about choosing the right senior living community.

New Episode! From Resistance to Readiness: Talking Assisted Living with Aging Parents

Starting the conversation about assisted living isn’t easy- especially when your parent doesn’t want to have it. In this episode, I share my S.I.M.P.L.E. framework, also featured in my book and workbook Senior Living Made S.I.M.P.L.E., to help guide each step: Support, Information, Matching, Preparation, Letting Go, and Engagement. I also share how to move from resistance to readiness with compassion, clarity, and respect.

We talk about how to recognize when it’s time to speak up, how to begin the conversation without creating conflict, and how to find the balance between helping and pushing too far. You’ll also learn what to look for in assisted living and how to approach the process in a way that preserves your parent’s independence and dignity.

As I always remind my audience, “Planning ahead doesn’t mean giving up independence- it means preserving choice.”

Whether you’re just starting to think about next steps or already facing difficult conversations, this episode offers guidance, reassurance, and a path forward.

This clip highlights a powerful truth: the right environment can transform mood, energy, appetite, mobility, and overall wellbeing. When seniors enter a community that fits their personality and needs, they often become more engaged, more social, and more confident.
The environment shapes the outcome — far more than most families realize.

In this segment, I share why taking your loved one to tour a community — even casually — can completely shift their mindset. When they see people their age laughing, eating lunch, playing cards, or staying active, the fear softens. What felt intimidating becomes familiar, and often, not so scary after all.
