π£ Seneca County General Health District is proud to announce the addition of FREE NARCAN vending machines in Seneca County.
The machines were purchased by Seneca County General Health District through a grant with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and are located at Seneca County General Health District and the Fostoria Municipal Building. NARCAN is a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug and works by acting as an opioid antagonist to reverse the effects of an overdose. Commonly used opioids include he**in, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers. NARCAN is administered as a nasal spray and can restore normal breathing if given promptly with no risk of harm or addiction to those without opioids in their system. Reversal of an overdose can be instantaneous for some and make take several minutes for others. NARCAN is a great rescue tool to keep in your first aid kit or vehicle safety supplies in the event you come across someone who has suffered an overdose, or someone is accidentally exposed to an opioid.
To access NARCAN from a vending machine, simply enter the number that corresponds with the product of your selection, and the machine will dispense it, free of change.
"NARCAN is a life-saving tool that is now available for free at vending machines throughout the county," Seneca County Commissioner Julie Richards said. "Overdoses are preventable, and having vending machines that are easily accessible to the public will help us continue to combat overdose deaths."
