Today, with a very heavy heart, we share that the University of Toledo EMS Education Program has officially closed after 35 years of serving our community.
For more than three decades, this program wasn’t just a classroom—it was a family, a launchpad, and a place where thousands of EMTs and paramedics took their very first steps into a lifetime of service. Our students learned from firefighters, medics, nurses, physicians, dispatchers, and countless preceptors who opened their doors, shared their experience, and shaped the next generation of EMS professionals. You—our community partners—helped turn students into responders, and responders into leaders.
Thank you for every clinical ride-along, every shift, every patient interaction, every word of encouragement, and every late-night teaching moment. Thank you to the departments, hospitals, agencies, and individuals who believed in us and invested in the future of EMS by giving our students a chance to learn and grow.
The program may be closing, but the impact will live on in every life our graduates have touched and will continue to touch. Our legacy is out there right now—in ambulances, firehouses, ERs, helicopters, and communities near and far—saving lives, comforting families, and carrying the torch forward.
To everyone who taught with us, partnered with us, supported us, or trusted us with their education: Thank you. We are forever grateful.
