It’s ok to protect your peace. Always put your physical, mental, and emotional health first. As they say, you don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to. ✨

Today is a historical day for su***de prevention and mental health in the U.S.! The National Su***de Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org.

988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the U.S., you can easily access 24/7 emotional support. You do not have to be suicidal to reach out. Our trained crisis counselors can help you through whatever mental health challenges you are experiencing.

We're so grateful to SAMHSA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Federal Communications Commission, and our other su***de prevention and mental health partners in the field for working together to get us here, and we look forward to growing and expanding our services and supports in the years to come.

"Games are a great way for kids to practice skills like remembering rules, paying attention, taking turns, flexible thinking, and inhibiting impulses — all skills related to self-regulation."

Board games are a great way for kids to practice self-regulation skills like taking turns, waiting, remembering rules, shifting attention, and planning.

Raise your hand if you've ever said "okay, you've lost [insert privilege here] for a week. Want to make it two??" to a kid mid-tantrum. (It's okay, this is a safe space. No judgment here.)

The truth is that generally speaking, kids want to do well... and if they're not, there's a good chance they can't. What looks like bad choices to us may be the loss of control that happens when a child's brain is hijacked by stress or trauma. Here's a great explanation of what this means and how to navigate it successfully.

It’s 4:55 in the afternoon, do you know where your kid is? If you've got a challenging kiddo, they might have just jumped off the bus, ready to blast into the stratosphere, seemingly set to pick a fight (or throw a tantrum) as soon as you remind them to pick up their socks.  In these mome

In the works(!):

An after-school group in Port Clinton for kids in and around the 9-12 age range to work on social skills, emotional identification and regulation, communication strategies, self-esteem, and skills to improve behavior and relationships. Some details are still to be determined, but we've got plenty of space!

If you have or know a child who could benefit from this kind of service, please don't hesitate to call us at 419-708-0441 to refer!
