to October 2025

At the 5th Annual Department of Medicine Research Symposium, the Cardi-OH team proudly hosted an outreach table focused on cardiovascular health awareness and hypertension prevention.

Co-PI Dr. Hoda Shabpiray was pictured at the Cardi-OH table engaging attendees in conversations about blood pressure control, chronic disease prevention, and the importance of regular monitoring.

As part of our community engagement efforts, we also hosted a raffle for a home blood pressure monitor to encourage continued self-monitoring beyond the event.

Events like the Research Symposium allow us to highlight ongoing quality improvement initiatives while connecting education, research, and patient-centered care.

The Department of Medicine’s Research Project Center recently partnered with the Neurology Department and nursing students to provide community blood pressure screenings at the basketball games on February 24 and 25.

Throughout the event, attendees received blood pressure checks, education on recognizing stroke warning signs, and guidance on managing hypertension and improving heart health. These conversations are critical, as early detection and awareness can significantly reduce the risk of stroke and other cardiovascular complications.

We also shared information about our Quality Improvement Hub and Cardi-OH initiatives, which focus on advancing chronic disease prevention and improving cardiovascular outcomes across our region through data-driven, community-centered care.

We are proud to collaborate across departments and with our students to bring preventive care and education directly into the community.
