Consider this a fair warning.
Early intervention of symptoms is KEY š
We see it up close and personal and see it every single day in DROVES since launching The Joss District.
This is seriously 9... 1... 1.
Don't believe us?
ššØ Ohio is now on alert šØš
Just got this email about a new mental health resource launching here.
And listen... we're glad Ohio is doing SOMETHING.
But if this is our BIG plan to address the youth mental health crisis⦠š¢
A phone line for crisis psychiatry consults once a child is already spiraling?
Weāve missed the point.
Here's the breakdown in the Buckeye state:
⢠18% of Ohio high schoolers reported seriously considering attempting su***de
⢠9% of high schoolers have already attempted su***de
⢠Half of middle schoolers donāt feel like they can talk to anyone about their feelings
And our response?
Put out the fire once itās already š„š„š„
But what if we asked why the fire started in the first place?
What if we stopped throwing meds and therapy at kids without asking whatās driving the inflammation, the dysregulation, and the overload to begin with?!?!
Thatās what weāre doing at The Joss District and guess what we're finding?
š± The Gaps:
⢠Brain inflammation
⢠Gut-brain dysfunction
⢠Mold, metals, chemical toxicity, PANS, PANDAS
⢠Food allergies, birth trauma, EMF sensitivities, sleep issues, screens/sensory challenges, airway blockage, visual processing issues, and methylation problems to just name a few.
A LOT of kids arenāt just depressed or anxious.
Many are inflamed, overloaded, and dysregulated and theyāre not getting evaluated for ANY of that.
Weāre flipping the model.
Why?
Because our founder went through this first hand and saw the need to blow up the system and start OVER because many providers ONLY wanted to throw an antidepressant at her then seven year old - which by the way - has a BLACK BOX warning for... š„š„š„... suicidal ideations.
Do you know what her daughter did end up having?
An infection in her gut, mold exposure, Lyme, and genetic methylation issues.
What needs to change?
āļø Testing and root cause mapping up front
āļø No more waiting 6ā12 months for a specialist
āļø Funding options to bridge the gap
āļø A network of providers that actually believes recovery is possible and sees a pill as a tool not the overall solution.
Because kids donāt need more š
They need someone to ask better questions.
This is what rebuilding pediatric wellness looks like.
And we're just getting started over here š±
Our kids need us getting out of the š¦... STAT.
Their lives are only on the line... literally, folks.
