The Heart and Vascular Care Unit at The University of Toledo Medical Center has earned a Bronze-Level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses — a national honor recognizing high-quality patient care and a supportive work environment. UTMC is the only hospital in northwest Ohio to receive this distinction.

This award reflects outstanding patient outcomes, patient satisfaction and the dedication of an incredible care team. The unit also received the DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses last year — a testament to their continued commitment to excellence in heart and vascular care. 💙

❄️ Extreme cold is expected across northwest Ohio. With wind chills forecast to drop as low as 13 degrees below zero early next week, taking steps to stay warm and safe is critical.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook as arctic air moves into the region, with the coldest wind chills expected Monday night into Tuesday.

UToledo Health encourages community members to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, and check on older adults and others who may be vulnerable to cold-related illness.
