It’s been almost two weeks since the Rise & Thrive Back-to-School Community Health Fair on August 9th, and Michael and I are still so full. Our hearts overflow with gratitude every time we reflect on what God allowed us to accomplish together.
When a city comes together, when organizations lock arms, and when people show up with love and purpose—statistics turn into stories, and barriers turn into bridges.
Because of the unwavering support of our sponsors, community partners, and volunteers, we were able to create impact that will last well beyond that day:
Over 700+ bookbags filled with school supplies distributed
500+ sports physicals and physical exams provided for children
Hundreds of health screenings completed (blood pressure, glucose, vision, and more)
Countless smiles, hugs, and moments of hope exchanged 💙
A special thank you to the Wayman D. Palmer Community YMCA, the Toledo Area Black Physician Group, and the City of Toledo for standing shoulder to shoulder with us. Your leadership and commitment to this community are unmatched.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our community partners who brought resources, expertise, and compassion to the fair. Your collaboration made this event more than just a moment — it made it a movement.
And to our city leaders who showed up in person — Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Health Commissioner Karim Baroudi, and Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson — thank you for your presence and for demonstrating your commitment to the health and future of our community.
To every sponsor who sowed into this vision, to every volunteer who gave their time, and to every family who showed up—you are the reason this was possible. We honor you, we thank you, and we look forward to building even greater together.
