Dinner Prep for the work week with Linda Byam, CHC, MBA, Certified Food for Life Instructor

Who hasn’t left work late with a growling stomach but little energy to shop and cook? A busy schedule is one of the top reasons why people choose quick takeout meals, which are often calorie-laden and a contributor to expanding waistlines and failing health. Now, imagine a different scenario where within a few minutes of walking through the door you have a delicious home-cooked dinner, and perhaps even lunch packed up for the next day. During hectic weekday schedules, meal prep is a great tool to help keep us on a healthy eating track. We will discuss food prep strategies and have a food demo. You will leave with a complete work-week of healthy dinner menus, a shopping list, and recipes!

It is never too early to learn to eat, and cook, right. With childhood obesity and diabetes at a record high in America, it is more important than ever for children to learn healthy food habits at an early age. This fun, interactive program teaches children how to eat healthy and prevent disease. Children will learn about healthy, delicious, easy-to-prepare foods at a one-hour cooking and nutrition class. This is a youth-centered class to help families learn new tastes and easy food preparation skills. The lessons learned at this class are ones they will carry into adulthood.

Each class will include a nutrition topic and activity followed by a cooking demonstration and a sampling of the food prepared. Classes are appropriate for children ages 7 to 13 years old, and parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. (Children under 10 should attend with a parent.)

The holidays can be a challenging time for sticking to a healthy eating
routine. With office parties, get-togethers with friends, and school
parties, there always seems to be an excuse to overindulge. In this
workshop, we will explore easy ideas for holiday treats that use less sugar, more whole foods, and will help you keep your healthy glow during the sweets season. Enjoy a cooking demo and food samples.
