As we enter the holiday season, we know this time of year can bring up many emotions. For some, it’s a time of gratitude and connection — for others, it can feel heavy with grief, stress, or major life changes. If you’re missing someone, navigating hard family dynamics, or simply not feeling your best, you’re not alone. Your feelings are valid.
A few gentle reminders:
• Take moments for yourself — breathe, walk, pray, pause.
• Honor your boundaries. You can say no or step away.
• Let joy and sadness coexist.
• Reach out to someone you trust if things feel heavy.
For some, the holidays can also trigger anxiety or panic attacks. These are real physical responses, not something someone can “snap out of.”
Common signs include: racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, shaking, dizziness, chest tightness, or feeling disconnected.
If someone is experiencing an anxiety attack:
• Stay calm and reassure them they’re safe.
• Encourage slow breathing.
• Try grounding (5 things you see, 4 feel, 3 hear, 2 smell, 1 taste).
• Move to a quieter space and offer water.
• Avoid saying “calm down” — just be present.
If anxiety is frequent, reaching out to a healthcare provider or counselor can help.
Our hearts are with you this season. Whether you’re surrounded by family, grieving, coping with change, or finding peace on your own — your healing matters. Be gentle with yourself.
