Healing looks different for everyone, and sometimes medication can be part of that support.

At Yakama Nation Public Community Health, one of our primary services is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). MAT can help reduce cravings, prevent withdrawal, and support people who are working toward recovery.

Our clinic offers Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol, and we work with each person to find what works best for them.

We believe in meeting people where they’re at. Our clinic is a safe, private, and judgment-free space where you can ask questions and talk about your options.

🚨 Public Health Alert
A very potent opioid called carfentanil has been identified in Washington State. It’s estimated to be 100× stronger than fentanyl and 10,000× stronger than morphine, meaning even a tiny amount can cause a fatal overdose.

If you or someone you know uses opioids, harm-reduction steps can help save lives:
• Try not to use alone
• Call the Never Use Alone Hotline: 800-484-3731
• Have someone nearby who can respond
• Carry naloxone (Narcan) if available

Overdose can happen fast, but support, treatment, and recovery are possible. Please share to help keep our community informed and safer.

⚠️ Community Health Warning: Kratom Products ⚠️
Yakama Nation Public Community Health wants to make our community aware of a substance called kratom that is becoming more common in gas stations, v**e shops, and online stores.

What is kratom?
Kratom comes from a plant in Southeast Asia. It is often sold as a powder, capsule, gummy, tea, or drink and marketed as a “natural” product for energy, focus, pain relief, or relaxation.

Why are we sharing this warning:
Even though it is marketed as natural, kratom can have serious health risks, including:
• Nausea and dizziness
• Increased heart rate
• Trouble breathing
• Dependence and withdrawal symptoms

Some kratom products may also contain stronger lab-made substances, which increases the risk of poisoning or overdose.

What to watch for:
👀 Products sold in gas stations, v**e shops, supplement stores, or online
👀 Packaging that looks like energy drinks, candy, gummies, or herbal supplements
👀 Labels that say “kratom” or “mitragynine”

Community Reminder:
Talk with youth and family members about these products and the risks. Many people may think they are safe because they are labeled as “natural.”

🚨 In an emergency:
Call 911 and contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Yakama Nation Public Community Health will continue sharing information to help protect our families, youth, and community.

March is TB Awareness Month.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an illness that spreads through the air when someone with active TB coughs, sneezes, or talks. It usually affects the lungs, but the good news is that TB can be tested for and treated.

We want to give a special shout out to the Yakama Nation Head Start Program for their commitment to community health. Each year they ensure their staff receive TB testing, helping protect their staff, the students they serve, and our wider community.

Prevention like this helps protect our families, elders, and future generations.

Some signs of TB can include:
• A cough lasting more than 3 weeks
• Fever or night sweats
• Feeling very tired
• Weight loss
• Chest pain

If you have questions or want to talk about TB testing, our teams are here to help.

We’re so excited to be back at our main building at 10 S Alder Street, Toppen*sh! It feels amazing to be home 🏠

A quick heads-up: we’re no longer a public restroom. After some recent plumbing adventures, our bathrooms are now reserved for staff and clients who are being seen (sorry, relatives of clients won’t be able to use them).

Thank you for understanding! This helps us keep our building safe, clean, and happy for everyone.
We truly appreciate your patience while we were away and can’t wait to welcome you back where you belong.

Stop by for services, support, or just a friendly hello.💛
