MEET THE TEAM

🎓 Elizabeth graduated from Brenau University in Georgia with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy after obtaining her Bachelors of Science from University of New Mexico, where she discovered her interest in helping a person across their lifespan.

👩🏻‍🍼After beginning her career in the inpatient setting and working with Neuro based patients, she became of mother of 3. It was during that time she realized, through both her own experiences and that of her patients the limited support and knowledge for both young mothers and lifetime mothers. The potential health disparities that develop as care goes under served with this population across the lifespan. This began her passion for pelvic health. She is committed to continuing to learn and grow as a pelvic health therapist to better meet her patient’s needs.

🏕️ When not in the clinic, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family either at the beach or camping in the wilderness.

Preparing your body for labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery? Movement is your ally. These gentle, intentional exercises support strength, breath connection, and pelvic mobility — all essential for the big day and beyond.

✨ 1. Bicep Curl on Therapy Ball
Seated with feet shoulder-width apart, use light hand weights (max 5 lbs) to curl toward your shoulders. Maintain upright posture to engage the core and improve arm strength — helpful for carrying baby later!

✨ 2. Diaphragmatic Breathing
With hands on your belly and ribs, inhale deeply, expanding your ribcage and belly. Let the breath travel down to the pelvis. As you exhale, feel the pelvic floor gently rebound and ribs return to neutral. This breathwork promotes body awareness, core control, and calm — a powerful tool during labor.

✨ 3. Cat/Cow Stretch
In tabletop position, inhale to arch (cow), exhale to round (cat). This flow supports spinal flexibility, eases back discomfort, and encourages baby’s optimal positioning.

✨ 4. Squats
With feet hip-width apart, lower into a squat while keeping the spine long and chest lifted. Use support if needed. Squats strengthen the legs and pelvic floor, while opening the hips — preparing your body for labor and supporting recovery postpartum.

Keep it gentle. Keep it consistent. Your body is preparing for something incredible. 💪🤰

Labor and birth positions for birthing person and partner!

Positions are listed from the least energy-intensive to the most. Pro tip: Try out these positions early to find your favorites—those that feel comfortable and best lengthen the pelvic floor.

Share your preferences with your partner so they can guide you during labor (and give them an important job to do!).

Have you heard of our Prenatal & Postpartum Weekly Workshops!

This 8-part series was designed to provide our patients with the information needed to prepare their pelvic floor muscles for labor, birth and postpartum. Swipe left to see the topics we will be covering!

Each part of the series is offered weekly and will be recurring every month, that way you can join at any point during your pregnancy and postpartum journey.

Workshop participation is currently limited to active physical therapy patients to make this offering eligible for insurance coverage.

We encourage current patients to discuss which parts of the series they would benefit from attending with their therapist.

For those interested in attending these workshops who aren’t currently WAMOH patients, contact us to schedule!

Whether you call it DRA, diastasis recti or plain old diastasis...

it can be an intimidating diagnosis. And given how common DRA is, especially among the postpartum population, there is a lot of conflicting information circulating about what it is and how to make it better. Swipe through to learn about some of the most common misconceptions about DRA!

Diastasis Re**us Abdominis Awareness Month

…better known as DRA, refers to the stretching of the connective tissue (anatomically called the linea alba) which runs down the midline of the abdominal wall.

The linea alba and abdominal wall stretch to accommodate the growing belly during pregnancy. It happens to 100% of people who are pregnant, and can persist after giving birth in up to 36%.

DRA can occur anywhere along the length of the abdomen (above, at, or below the belly button), and the width of diastasis varies between individuals.

As pelvic floor therapists, we assess the—
☑️ length
☑️ width
☑️ depth (integrity of connective tissue)
☑️ behavior (doming/herniation during movements and activities)
…of DRA in order to develop an effective plan of care.

✨ Psyllium Husk for Postpartum Digestive Health ✨

Postpartum digestive health can be a challenge, but psyllium husk may help support your body during this time. Here’s how it might benefit you:

✅ Supports Regularity: Psyllium husk is a natural fiber that may help relieve constipation and promote regular bowel movements.
✅ Promotes Gut Health: It may support a healthy gut microbiome, which can be especially helpful after childbirth.
✅ Aids in Weight Management: Psyllium could help with feelings of fullness, potentially supporting healthy weight management postpartum.
✅ May Help Blood Sugar Balance: Some research suggests psyllium may assist in supporting healthy blood sugar levels.
While more research is needed, especially in postpartum and nursing mothers, psyllium husk could be a gentle and natural addition to your postpartum wellness routine.

💊 Talk to your provider about adding psyllium husk to your recovery plan and explore our Fullscript store (link in bio) to support your digestive health.

New research spotlights how pelvic physical therapy can meaningfully support men with erectile dysfunction, premature ej*******on, and chronic pelvic pain.

This 2025 narrative review (Pagano et al.) outlines evidence-based strategies pelvic health therapists can use—no pills required:
— PFMT for stronger erections + ejaculatory control
— Biofeedback for proprioception + long-term outcomes
— Manual therapy for pelvic pain + muscle tension
— Breathing, mindfulness, and movement for nervous system regulation
— Lifestyle changes that directly impact sexual function

The takeaway? When PTs integrate pelvic floor, mind-body, and lifestyle interventions, we help address male sexual dysfunction with care that’s conservative, effective, and holistic.

Pelvic PT isn’t just for women.
This 2025 review underscores the growing role of pelvic health PT in male sexual dysfunction—from erectile dysfunction to pelvic pain.
PFMT, biofeedback, manual therapy, and breathwork are evidence-backed tools pelvic health professionals use daily to treat male pelvic health challenges.
The takeaway? Sexual health is pelvic health—and it's time we treat it that way, across all genders.

Hypopressive? Yoga? Inverted hip bridges? They may be trendy—but are they effective for pelvic organ prolapse? This 2023 systematic review (Bø et al.) analyzed 7 RCTs on non-PFMT exercise programs like hypopressives, yoga, and breathing techniques for POP treatment. What did it find? — PFMT outperformed hypopressives alone — Adding hypopressives to PFMT offered no extra benefit — Yoga studies often included PFMT, so effects weren’t isolated — Inverted hip exercises showed limited improvements—but not in POP stage Bottom line: Pelvic floor therapy is still the gold standard for conservative POP care. While alternative exercises may support general health, they shouldn’t replace pelvic floor therapy in your plan of care. Study: Bø et al. (2023) DOI: 10.1007/s00192-022-05407-y
