Taking an extended sivasana this week😉 spending time with my family, playing & restoring. So no class this morning - I’ll be on instagram at 7:30am next Wednesday. And I’ll be back at this weekend.

Moving intentionally is hard sometimes, especially when fear is involved…& there’s a lot of fear out there these days.

You can feel totally stuck & paralyzed. Or totally reactive. In both cases, what other people are saying & doing is influencing you.
✨
Let joy & love move you. Take a couple deep breaths right now. Can you feel that? Your breath in your body. Your heart & your spirit. Let this be what moves you. Be moved to share your love & joy. We need it💗
✨

Even better, I can stand on my hands anywhere, anytime, wearing anything (or next to nothing).
✨
It makes me stop & think about the women in Afghanistan & other countries who can’t even leave their house without fear.
I hope this is a freedom I never loose.
✨
I’m still@doing research on how to help women in Afghanistan & the world - if you want to do something, you can do some research too & leave suggestions below.

If you want to do something to help women here, start in your own community. Connect with shelters & support agencies. Let’s help each other💗

Instead trying to change other people’s mind, what if we change our own hearts?

Have you tried to change someone’s mind? I know I have. Recently, I’ve decided to let that go. Right or wrong, are all pretty ensconced in our beliefs.
✨
The real change comes within us. And we don’t even have to try to “change” our hearts. We simply need to allow our hearts to be open. To offer compassion to ourselves & each other. Then maybe things will start to change.
✨
My practice reminds to open my heart. I’m teaching at today & tomorrow. Why not join me💗

90 degree angle in your front knee, back foot angled 30? degrees.

These are terms I don’t use alot because my story has always been that I don’t like math & I’m not good at it. (And that’s a story for another day)

Funny thing is…I’ve been doing a lot of math the past 18 months, trying to figure out & better understand numbers.
✨
For example, here in CT, we’re told we have approximately a 2.6-3.5% positivity rate. What do you think that means?
✨
Does that mean that 2.6- 3.5% of the 3.5 million people living in CT are testing positive?
✨
Actually, it doesn’t.
✨
It means, one day last week fir example, that 20,236 tests were administered and 542 came back positive. And so we’re told it’s a 2.68% that rate of positivity.
✨
But, 542 is actually .01 % of the population of the state of the CT. So we could also be told thatbwe have a .01% positivity rate.
✨
Make you want to do more math? Maybe.

If you’re local, come & join me for class tomorrow night, 7-8pm. $5-20 suggested donation - all money will be used to purchase gift cards for the victims of the fire.
Use the Niles Road entrance to Brodie & you’ll find me in the field on the right - I’ll find some shade & we can hop in the lake after class.
The victims in the fire lost everything. If you want to make a donation & can’t make it to class, message me or stop by Town Hall.

I’ve had my up & downs through all this…I know you all have too. I can go deep & pretty dark. I realized (again) last week, that wasn’t helping me or anyone else. So I leaned into creating a shift.
✨
I’ve started reading more good stuff - The Sutras, Ram Dass & I just finished a book about the Buddha & Buddhism.
I’ve started listening to again every morning on my way to the studio.
And I have my daily yoga practice & my other physical practices…like swimming in our local lake 😊
✨
I woke up yesterday morning & this morning feeling grateful to wake up. Grateful that I can get up & get moving. Grateful to teach in my studio & then practice. Grateful for all the resources & people who help me raise my vibration. Grateful for this life & all that’s in it.
✨

′′This moment humanity is currently experiencing can be considered a door or a hole: the decision to fall into the hole or walk through the door belongs to you.
If you consume the information 24 hours a day, with negative energy, constantly nervous, with pessimism, you will fall into this hole.
But if you take this opportunity to look at yourself, to rethink life and death, to take care of yourself and others, then you will go through the portal.
Take care of your home, take care of your body.
Connect with your spiritual home. When you take care of yourself, you take care of everyone at the same time.
Do not underestimate the spiritual dimension of this crisis. Take perspective of an eagle who sees everything from above with a wider view. There is a social demand in this crisis, but also a spiritual demand. Both go hand in hand.
Without the social dimension, we fall into fanaticism. Without the spiritual dimension, we fall into pessimism and futility.
You are ready to go through this crisis. Grab your toolbox and use all the tools available.
Learn the resistance of the example of Indian and African peoples:
we have been and are still being exterminated. But we never stopped singing, dancing, lighting a fire and having joy.
Don't feel guilty for feeling lucky during these difficult times. Being sad or angry does not help at all. Resistance is resistance through joy!
You have every right to be strong and positive. And there's no other way to do this but to maintain a beautiful, joyful and bright posture.
This has nothing to do with alienation (ignorance of the world). This is a resistance strategy.
When we walk through the door, we have a new world view because we faced our fears and hardships. That's all you can do now:
✨Serenity in the storm, stay calm;
✨Make the habit of meeting the sacred everyday;
✨Show resistance through art, joy, trust and love.”

I’ve been thinking lately about our inability to talk to each other. Is it really the subject matter? Or is that we’ve forgotten how to listen? Have we closed our ears (& hearts & minds) & decided that we need to be right? Are we so busy preparing our case, that we don’t leave space to actually hear what those who don’t agree with have to say?

When was the last time you really listened to someone with a different point of view?
✨
Today, can you (can we - I need the reminder too) set an intention to open & listen? And notice the shift that happens💗
