Rooted in Love

Rooted in Love I am birth doula who serves Cowlitz County and the surrounding areas. I also offer placenta encapsulation services as well.

I believe every woman deserves to have the birth that she wants in the space that she wants supported by those around her. I am a mom of 4 wonderful kids who loves everything birth and babies. My family and I live in a small town where we are working everyday to have our own self sustaining homestead. My goal is to help women embrace pregnancy, birth and the weeks and months after known as the 4th trimester.

Baby snuggles are the best part of being doula. And something I cherish greatly so when a mama asks me to take a picture with the new bundle for the baby book I am always happy to oblige.

This little bundle was born into a room full of love and decorated to celebrate his birthday!

Congrats new mama. He is perfect!

There is something so peaceful sitting next to a sleeping mom as she awaits for the arrival of her baby.

I also make sure to bring a good book to a birth, so that while mama rests I can read.

Today is a good day to have a baby.

I am still booking for July, late September and beyond for doula clients.

And always taking placenta clients.

This placenta was an honor to do. This mama knows the loss of a son. While she lost hers in a different way then I lost my huckleberry our grief runs deep, we share this pain. We walk the journey of loss together yet separately and we have bonded .

When she reached out for me to encapsulate her placenta I felt blessed. This baby brings hope and a smidge of healing for this mama. It may not fill the hole left from the death of her oldest son but this baby will bring smiles and laughter and love.

The first picture shows where this baby lived safe in his mothers womb. The second is the cord keepsake I made for her.

For many the umbilical cord represents the connection between mom and baby for the first 9 months as baby grew. It’s their journey and it really is a cool thing to have a remembrance of that connection for a life time.

Congrats mama on a beautiful baby boy. Thank you letting me part of your postpartum journey.

*fun fact i find it important for me to be in a good, peaceful place when I process a placenta. Usually I listen to ziggy Marley and smile. The placenta should be honored, something I hope our western society learns to do more of.

As spring approaches I find myself with more doula clients then ever before and I could not be more excited.

Following my passion for birth work fills my soul. Being able to help parents bring their baby earthside is wonderful and fulfilling.

Often I am asked what I do as I doula and my anwser is I support the birthing parents. I have done home births where I was asked to walk and feed their dogs 2xs during labor because dad didn’t want to leave moms side, I have taken photos, I have held the barf bag, I have brought dad coffee, I have kept family in the loop, I have applied counter pressure to the laboring mom, and most importantly I advocate for the mom and dad when needed. My goal is to help you create the birthing space you would like.

I currently have 4 doula clients and having openings in June July October and beyond.

I have 2 encapsulation clients and I am booking clients from may and beyond.

Let me know how I can help you.

I got a phone call this morning that a client had her baby. I am so lucky to have a job that understands when I’m 30 minutes late because I had to pick up a placenta and get in the fridge.

This mamas placenta was beautiful. Large and full of life. The cord almost empty of blood, which signifies that delayed cord clamping was practiced and that baby got every last ounce of blood that it’s placenta had to give to it before being disconnected from mom physically but not emotionally. Their journey here earth side just beginning.

The cord keepsake is the infinity symbol.♾ I’ve never done it before but my soul just felt that the image of a love that never ends was what fit this mama and baby. So I went with it.

Every time I process a placenta I take time to prepare my mind. No anxiety, chaos, stress will be felt by me as I process a placenta. It’s an organ that should be loved, respected, and honored.

I’m true fashion my middle son fought sleep until he got a glimpse of this precious organ. He knows how important it is to life. And I know as a father one day he will make sure no matter what his wife wants to do with her placenta he will honor for all it is.

I have openings for placentas. So if it is something you are interested in please reach out to me. Even if baby is due tomorrow, it’s never to late.

Birth is amazing. And it truly is my passion.

I had the pleasure of supporting a mama while she brought her baby earth side last night in a beautiful setting. Mama labored amazingly letting her natural instincts guide her.

Tonight I process her placenta and honor all that it provided mother and baby during her pregnancy.

The placenta is the coolest organ a female can produce and when the mother no longer needs it, the body lets it go, so mother can honor it. Sometimes that includes ingesting the placenta in the form of a capsule, sometimes it means planting it under a tree. However you honor your placenta I am so thankful as culture we have begun to honor an organ that gives us life.

Tonight I am thankful for the opportunity to teach my son about why I love the placenta and how important it is. I can only hope one day when his wife gives birth he is the one who ask “ can I see her placenta” and as he looks on in amazement he understands just how special and how hard that placenta worked to give his child life.

This morning I got a phone call from a mama who had her baby last night and kept her placenta hoping to encapsulate.

My first question was "is it in the fridge or on ice?"

And of course she said yes.

So I agree to process her placenta for her. I got off work, drove to her house and picked it up.

It is a beautiful placenta with a long umbilical cord.

Here is the keepsake.

I am currently taking clients for placentas . I am also taking doula clients with openings for august, and then october on.

Today I got to do what I love and support one of my best friends through her birth as her doula.

She was strong.
She was fierce.
Her daughter absolutely perfect.

And look as this view we got to enjoy as she brought her baby earth side.

I delivered this to the new mama Thursday. In all she got 147 placenta capsules. Which now has me searching for bigger amber jars, so I can fit all the capsules in 1 jar.

I wish her a blissful postpartum filled with so much support and new baby snuggles.
