Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation

Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation As a US-based non-profit organization, HRF is dedicated to supporting the success and sustainability of
rehabilitation in Haiti.

We support Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy education in Haiti, primarily by providing logistical and financial support to FSRL, an OT/PT program in Haiti. PURPOSE STATEMENT - WHY we exist
The Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation (HRF) was founded to address the lack of adequate rehabilitation
services in Haiti by creating a sustainable, Haitian-led solution. In response to the critical shortage of
trained rehabilitation professionals, HRF established Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de
Léogâne (FSRL)—Haiti’s first academic program for occupational and physical therapy. Our purpose is to empower rehabilitation professionals in Haiti with the education,
resources, and professional development needed to provide high-quality rehabilitation services. CORE VALUES
▪ Empowerment: Equipping Haitian professionals to lead, innovate, and transform rehabilitation services
— ensuring Haitian sovereignty in advancing healthcare solutions.
▪ Sustainability: Committing to long-term, Haitian-led solutions that foster growth and maximize
utilization of Haitian workforce and resources.
▪ Collaboration: Partnering with Haitian organizations, educators, and global supporters to advance
rehabilitation while respecting Haiti’s leadership and self-determination.
▪ Cultural Respect: Respecting Haiti’s dignity and unique identity by promoting culturally relevant
rehabilitation education and practices that reflect Haitian values and priorities. VISION STATEMENT - WHAT we envision
(Guided by our Purpose and Core Values)
We envision a Haiti where every person has access to high-quality, culturally relevant rehabilitation,
prevention, and wellness services — delivered by skilled Haitian professionals — empowering Haitians
to live with dignity, independence, purpose, and meaning.

▪ FSRL thrives as a Haitian-led academic center of excellence, training generations of rehabilitation
professionals to lead Haiti’s rehabilitation movement.
▪ Haitian rehabilitation professionals are fully integrated into Haiti’s healthcare system, collaborating with
interdisciplinary teams and earning widespread recognition for their expertise.
▪ Haiti stands as a global model for rehabilitation education and practice. MISSION STATEMENT - HOW we achieve our vision
(Directed by our Vision)
HRF is committed to sustaining high-quality education and training of rehabilitation professionals in
Haiti through financial, logistical/operational, and strategic support. We fulfill our mission by:
▪ Strengthening FSRL as a Haitian-led center of excellence in rehabilitation education.
▪ Supporting the professional development of FSRL graduates and other Haitian rehabilitation
professionals.
▪ Engaging volunteers, building partnerships, acquiring resources and expertise, and sharing the work of
HRF globally.
▪ Collaborating with Haitian professional associations and organizations to promote rehabilitation
education, practice, advocacy, and policy. Through these efforts, Haitian rehabilitation professionals will be equipped to lead, innovate, and deliver
culturally relevant rehabilitation services in Haiti — reducing disability-related barriers and transforming lives.

Exciting progress is happening in Léogâne!

The first visible steps toward the future home of the Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH (FSRL) are underway. The land for the new campus is currently being cleared and leveled—an important milestone that moves us closer to creating a permanent space where future occupational and physical therapists in Haiti will learn, grow, and serve their communities.

This new campus represents more than buildings. It represents opportunity, sustainability, and a long-term investment in rehabilitation education in Haiti. Every tree cleared and every section of land leveled brings us one step closer to classrooms, labs, and gathering spaces where the next generation of rehabilitation professionals will be trained.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this vision. Your encouragement, advocacy, and generosity are helping turn this dream into reality.

Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues! And consider supporting this monumental work: https://www.haitirehab.org/

As the International Paralympic Committee Winter Games (March 6–15, 2026) begin, we are proud to celebrate Ralf Etienne, who is representing Haiti on the world stage.

Ralf’s participation is a powerful moment for Haiti and for the disability community. Competing in the Paralympic Winter Games requires extraordinary dedication, resilience, and perseverance — qualities that inspire people everywhere, especially young people in Haiti who are living with disabilities.

At Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through our support of the Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de Léogâne (Fsrl Uneph) — Haiti’s first occupational therapy and physical therapy academic program — we are helping train the rehabilitation professionals who will expand access to therapy services across the country.

Athletes like Ralf remind us why this work matters. Rehabilitation services help individuals with disabilities build strength, develop skills, and participate fully in life — whether that means succeeding in school, returning to work, engaging in their communities, or even competing on the world stage.

Today we celebrate Ralf Etienne, proudly representing Haiti, and all Paralympic athletes who show the world that determination, opportunity, and support can unlock extraordinary potential.

Haiti is represented. The world is watching. And the possibilities are endless.

🌍 Volunteer with Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation’s English Club!

Join us for a weekly, informal Zoom session connecting with Haitian occupational and physical therapy students to help them practice conversational English. Each session lasts about one hour, with no long-term commitment and no formal ESL training needed—just a willingness to chat, support, and share cross-cultural dialogue.

This is a meaningful opportunity for OT/OTA, PT/PTA, and other health professions practitioners and students to connect with future colleagues internationally—but volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome!

📚 Educators: Consider offering English Club as an optional or extra-credit service-learning opportunity for your students.

Rehabilitation is not charity. It is not optional. It is not a privilege.

Reyabilitasyon se yon dwa moun.
Rehabilitation is a Human Right.

At Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation, our mission is clear: to support the education and leadership of Haitian occupational and physical therapists through the Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de Léogâne (Fsrl Uneph). Because sustainable change happens when professionals are trained locally, lead locally, and serve their own communities.

Our purpose is not short-term relief. It is long-term transformation. Our vision is a Haiti where access to rehabilitation is built into the healthcare system — led by Haitians, for Haitians.

This movement is about dignity.
It is about justice.
It is about building systems that last.

The Association of Students of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences of Léogâne officially launched the academic year in style with an unforgettable day of reflection, creativity, and celebration in Chatuley, Léogâne. 🇭🇹

The day began with a powerful conference:

Through rich and meaningful dialogue, students explored how Haitian carnival serves as a space for emotional release, cultural expression, and social reconstruction. Carnavibes is about rethinking our culture — deeply and differently.

A vibrant atmosphere of exchange, unity, and carnival spirit marked the official AEFSRL 2026–2027 kick-off.
