The Clinical Psychology concentration of the Master of Arts in Psychology at Towson University provides hands-on training and firsthand experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and applied research. The program is ideally suited to meet the needs of individuals who want to: (1) Learn about evidence-based practices in psychology (EBPP); (2) Work as master's level psychometricians, behavioral specialists, or licensed; (3) clinical professional counselors; (4) Pursue further graduate study in clinical psychology; and/or (5) Serve as research interviewers/clinicians/project managers on applied research studies

Kirsten graduated from Towson's clinical concentration in 2011, earned a PhD in Counseling from University of Kentucky and came "home" to Towson to complete her internship at the TU Counseling center. The clinical concentration was fortunate to have her teach as an adjunct for the past two years. It has been a true pleasure watching her gain confidence in her abilities and develop into a gifted academic. We could not be happier for her and are certain that she is on the way to beginning a brilliant academic career!

The VISN 5 Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC), at the Baltimore VA is part of a nationwide program funded by Congress to improve health care and mental health care for Veterans with mental illness. The research, educational activities, and clinical demonstration projects of the VISN 5 MIRECC are specifically focused on schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses, and on supporting recovery. http://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn5/index.asp
The MIRECC is looking to hire 2 full-time Research Assistants to work on studies that we have taking place at the Baltimore VA Maryland Health Care System. Responsibilities of the position include:
• Screening potential participants by reviewing charts and reviewing cases with the research team
• Recruiting and obtaining informed consent from participants for various research studies
• Completing research assessments , interviews and questionnaires with participants
• Facilitating manualized group treatment interventions with seriously mentally ill individuals
• Participating in research study team meetings and supervisions as scheduled
Experience required for the position:
• Applicants must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology; master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work preferred.
• Applicants must have some experience (can be academic, volunteer or job related) working with individuals who have a serious mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective d/o, bipolar disorder, major depression with psychosis, PTSD, etc.).
