Behind the Scenes at TopSpot4U
Filing Day, Goober, and the Real Life of a Small Business Owner.
January 29, 2026
Some days at TopSpot4U start with fabric swatches and end with finished scrubs. Other days start with Indiana filings, a stubborn website timeout, and a parrot who thinks heโs training for the Key-Clacker Olympics.
Today was one of those days. While I was trying to file my business reports โ the kind of thing that should take ten minutes but somehow turns into a whole saga โ the state website decided it needed a nap. Timeout after timeout. So there I was, bouncing between filings, HTML fixes, and a little catalog cleanup, trying to keep everything moving. Meanwhile, Goober was in full supervisor mode.
He launched ping-Pong balls down the hallway like he was practicing for a tournament. He tossed toys off his cage with the confidence of someone who believes gravity is a personal assistant. And every time I tried to focus, heโd peek around my laptop like he was checking my progress. Goober has the energy of a toddler on espresso and the aim of a professional pitcher.
I finally get him worn out with the key-clacker championshipโฆ and the moment I sit down, heโs already launched a ping-pong ball like heโs trying out for the MLB. This bird lives for chaos and applause. And of course he โalways winsโ โ heโs the referee, the player, and the scorekeeper. I'm just the human assistant in his Olympic training program.
Goober is curious, nosy, slightly judgmental, and absolutely convinced he runs this business. This is the part of small business ownership nobody sees. Itโs not always tidy. Itโs not always quiet. Itโs not always โPinterest perfect.โ Sometimes itโs filings, code, coffee, and a parrot who insists on supervising every keystroke. He is Chief Supervisor of Chaos. Director of Ping-Pong Ball Logistics. VP of Laptop Peeking. And an absolute asset to the company.
The two of us make one unforgettable team here in the office. These are the days that make TopSpot4U what it is โ real, warm, lived-in, and powered by a little green bird with a big personality. And I wouldnโt trade it for anything.
