This little story is from the book “Remembering Ida Rolf”, this how the little boy logo was created .
Dr. Rolf and I did a children's project, and out of that came the logo (of the Rolf Institute) that we use.
That's Timmy! Tim Barrett is now thirty-five years old. He lives in Hawaii on the Big Island. He is about six feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. As a child, Timmy was diagnosed with Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. At the time, in 1959, his mother was told he would need to be casted for five years, continuously casted and recasted in order to take care of this situation. His mother chose, and this was a very, very brave choice for 1959, an alternative therapy that nobody had heard of at the time. At about nine, he started surfing. He went to Hawaii because he wanted to surf. He has won competition awards in high school and on through junior college. He's married and has two children, a boy and a girl, and they surf too. He's a carpenter.
Another family member had a child about the same age as Tim. This boy had the same thing, His mother chose to cast him. It's hard to say? interventions have what result. However, this boy died of a drug overdose at age eighteen, at the time Timmy was winning championships. I thought you might like to visualize Tim with his red nat, realize that there's a real live person who lives in the real world and he's well and happy. He has a slight limp because the head of the femur is somewhat mishapen. However, he has the balance so that he can do something that he loves with his body.
