Sharing a post from who shared, goes hand in hand with my video today.

From a beloved colleague, Ann Ronayne and the GT Region Action Council's healing team.

Here are some things to keep in mind over the next few days. Many of us have had heightened levels of adrenaline and stress hormones running through our systems for varying lengths of time. Our bodies and brains have been primed for fight or flight, and have adjusted to that state. The "sudden" removal of the stressor (the election) can bring on physical and emotional symptoms that may not make sense. Some of the more common ones are:

Seemingly random intense emotion (sadness, anger, lethargy)

A strong urge to be with/talk to people (more than typical)

A strong urge to isolate (more than typical)

Physical exhaustion

Muscle soreness

Lack of or increased appetite

Cravings for specific foods or drinks

Some of these symptoms can cause distress because they feel out of context. The battle is won, the evil is vanquished and so we "should" be happy and relieved. Though uncomfortable, it is completely normal to feel "off" as we come down from a place of high stress. Here are some things that we can do to alleviate the symptoms and help our bodies and brains normalize their chemistry:

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Water, juice, Gatorade. Even if we don't feel thirsty our bodies need the hydration to settle and heal. Stay away from alcohol and caffeine for a while.

Honor food cravings
Cravings can be a signal from our intuition that some vitamin or mineral is depleted. See if having a bit of what you're craving helps.

Honor the desire to be with, or away from, people.
Forcing ourselves to extra when we want to intra, or vice versa, just keeps the stress high.

Write, sing, play your instruments. Color, draw, glue different color pieces of paper to cardboard. Give the non-verbal parts of your psyche the chance to express itself.

Ask for help
If our feelings don't lessen in a week or so, we might need help getting back in balance. Posting here can be a great way to get started getting the support and care that we need.

So proud of this recent SOYA grad who taught her one of her first classes today and is well on her way in her 300YTT training to living out another part of her journey!

Are we listening??? It's been spoken of and prophesied so many years ago. What are we doing about it?

~Kheda, inertia, can pull man away from active evolution so that individuals, even great masses of society, could plead that there was "nothing that we can do" as their leaders and rulers trample them and others under the yoke of oppression in their madness for power and prestige. Udwega, anxiety, and Kshepa, uncertainty, would follow. Fears and anxieties are so wide spread that it is rare to find an individual feee from these conditions. Uncertainty even of the next breath is the order of the moment. Uttathaana represents the distractions that world has to offer to us while we ignore the destruction of humanity and the end to civilization which looms large on the horizon. That these distractions are also pulling away at the youth of this and other nations from the spiritual life is also obvious. Anyayud is the order of the day. Anyayud is an attraction for that which is undesirable, especially where morality and ethics may need to be bolstered and spiritual evolution is important. Sanga is attachment to the sensate attractions of the world and our desire to possess the objects and the things of the world. These are the milestones around our necks when we attempt higher thought or try to elevate our consciousness. Rik, mental disturbance, is at an all-time high. This nation, as well as others, requires more psychiatrists and mental institutions to harbor those in need of treatment from the conditions created by the same false world they sought to possess. Mranti, loss of memory, is so wide-spread that we are fortunate to be able to operate at all. Our own lives are at the stake. Our own existence is on the line, and those of us interested in Yoga have no other choice than to commit our lives over to this unified way of life and choose spiritual freedom!

A Michigan native, Terri received her C.M.A. in Medical Assistance through training provided in Royal Oak, Michigan and her RYT 200 through Jenny Lintvedt, Yoga Teacher Trainer in Traverse City, Michigan.
