My goal when seeing a patient is to improve their overall health, prevent disease and motivate them to want to change. A thorough history is needed because so many things can be causing someone’s symptoms. Some of the common causes for chronic symptoms:
medications - take a look at your medicines because they could be causing your bloating, weight gain, anxiety, constipation, high blood pressure, dizziness, urinary tract infections, etc. sometimes adjusting a medication dose fixes so many symptoms!
history of antibiotic use - before you jump to antibiotics, reconsider and try natural remedies first. A lot of antibiotics can cause gut imbalances leading to candida overgrowth, leaky gut, food intolerances, bloating, heart burn, rashes, etc
stress/lack of sleep- the brain and stress are so powerful in how we feel day to day. Cortisol imbalances occur from stress which then affects other hormones and sleep, cravings, gut imbalances, etc. As hard as it is in our busy culture we need to find stress relieving activities day to day.
diet- the things we are consuming affect how we feel day to day! our foods are making us sick and overtime our organs begin to fail. Symptoms are our body’s way of screaming for help. Fatty liver is one of the most common things I am finding because of fast foods, processed foods, and sugars.
It can feel overwhelming to address everything so start with small changes. This is not a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle change and requires time. Be patient with yourself, celebrate victories, understand there will be setbacks. The progress and motivation I am seeing in my patients is amazing 🙌🏻
