We continued our work on seeds and sunflowers today with this collaborative art piece painted with the colors found in the sunflower.

We listened to beautiful music while painting and let all the creative feelings flow through us.

Last year it felt like we didn't get back in the yard until June, so we were all super happy today to be back here before we say goodbye to April. We ate lunch and PM snack outside, and we reminded ourselves how wonderful it is to be in the world without walls.

Just space and fresh air. And the freedom to work and play all day outside.

We hope you enjoyed your Monday just as much as we did!

We had so much fun with the open sensory play this week, scooping and pouring and dumping everything in to all places imaginable!

Clean up this weekend is going to be a blast ๐Ÿ˜†

Have a little look at why this type of sensory play is so important to our learners of all ages.

We recently added a 'sign in' board to our classroom so the children can make their mark in the morning. I write the child's name and draw a line for them to 'follow' along. What they do next is completely up to them. The purpose is to build early literacy and name recognition: Children naturally begin to recognize and attempt writing their own names through daily mark making on the sign-in board, helping them develop letter awareness, fine motor skills, and a sense of their turn, and the board has become another free space to create art during the day.

We found the BIGGEST puddle!

Which meant the best fun with the best friends. EVER!

We hope your day is going as splashingly as ours.

This curious crew has been enjoying their recent baking burst - from a discussion on brown bananas, we've had banana muffins, strawberry cakes, homemade playdough, and now banana and blueberry loaf!

They do the majority of the tasks solo, and only really look to me at oven time and clean up time! And honestly, besides the one or two seasonal boogers in the mix, this loaf was blooming lovely!

We had a great time Friday making child safe microwave playdoh! Everyone got to make their own and get their hands dirty and take it home with them at the end of the day.

This is such a beneficial sensory experience for the children, engaging each one of their senses as we see, smell, taste, touch all of the ingredients and then shout about how wonderful it all is.

Super simple to do at home, too.

Have fun!

Following on from the first day of spring on Friday, Monday was world meteorological day ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒงโ„๏ธโšก๏ธ One of the ways we celebrated was the cloud in a jar experiment!

Each child was able to spray the spray and lift the ice and exclaim the joy. Such a fun and easy experiment that really helps to illustrate how clouds are formed.

We will continue to use our new words in daily conversations and shall lean heavy on the crazy weather patterns for the rest of this week in South East Michigan!
