From a freezing Truckee basement to a behavioral health and community support ecosystem 🏔️❄️

Back in 2022, Crow’s Nest Ranch / Radical Recovery was just a handful of us in a cold basement, leaning on a simple meditation practice and a shared mission. We knew the Truckee and greater Tahoe Basin needed something different—something rooted in action, aaccountability, accessibility, and lived experience.

Fast forward to 2026: What started as a grassroots spark has evolved into Crow’s Nest Ranch—a fully licensed, accredited treatment center—and Radical Recovery, a thriving non-profit supported by the community.

The road hasn’t been perfect (behavioral health never is), but every challenge has been worth it to build a culture where no one walks alone.

What’s driving us in 2026:

🌍 Expanding Access: Launching dedicated support for our native Spanish-speaking community.

🤝 Continued Collaboration: Strengthening our partnerships to bridge the gaps in local care.

🌅 7 AM WORKOUTS AT CROW’S NEST RANCH 💪

Early morning movement isn’t just exercise—it’s a powerful tool for your long-term recovery.

When you work out early in the morning—before 8 or 9 a.m.—your body responds in two powerful ways:

⚡ Physical Reset: Your temperature rises faster, you feel more alert, and your body starts anticipating movement. Regular early exercise improves circulation, builds strength, eases tension, and supports better sleep. Your body gets to heal, recover, and recharge—one session at a time.

🧠 Mental Clarity: Early morning light and movement tell your brain, “We’re alive. Let’s go.” The workout triggers endorphins, lowers stress hormones, and helps you find focus and calm in the chaos of recovery.

🧘‍♂️ Entrainment & Rhythm: Even if you hate mornings, a few days of early exercise resets your internal clock. By day four, you start waking up naturally. Your circadian clock listens to light, movement, food, and connection. When you move early, your body anticipates it—and you build a rhythm that sticks.

At Crow’s Nest Ranch, our community gathers every Monday through Thursday at 7:00 AM for Jiu Jitsu, FightFit, Yoga, or Muay Thai. You’re not working out alone—you’re sharing the struggle with others who understand. After each session, we create space for real processing. Our patients discuss what they’re carrying, how they felt before, and what changed after. The results are consistent: improved mental clarity, physical strength, emotional resilience, and genuine possibility.

“This morning I watched the sun rise over the mountains and felt a deep sense of gratitude for this place we call home and the people who make it what it is.

Truckee became a place of healing for me long before Crow’s Nest Ranch or existed. In my own recovery, these mountains, these trails, this small-town energy, and the people who live here helped me feel less lost and more connected to myself. Over time, that personal healing turned into a drive to create spaces where others—especially those who feel like they don’t belong or have been “thrown away”—can find their own path in recovery.”

We’re grateful for our community: for the many personalities we’ve had the privilege to work with, for the providers and partners who show up with open hearts, and for the neighbors who believe that no one is beyond hope. When we come together to support those who feel unseen, we don’t just help individuals—we strengthen our community as a whole.

In just 18 months, we have secured state licensing and national accreditation to make our services as accessible as possible, and it is our goal is to create more accessibility with a welcoming community hub for recovery and sobriety that’s open to everyone. This past summer we have had some amazing progress with becoming licensed by California Department of Health Care Services, accredited by the Joint Commission, ANNNND we have officially signed contracts with both County of Nevada, CA and Placer County Placer County Government to be able to offer accessible and attainable holistic treatment for as many in our community as is possible.
